If he gets ahead he will silence you, give you aids then proceed to fuck you repeatedly with a large rubber shoe known as his ultimate. The counterplay is limited, especially in a 1v1 where he will silence then as soon as that runs out he will ult. Just very annoyed by this champion, i find his lore cool but his game play bullshit
Question, why would you duel someone with a suppress? That's like dueling a Warwick. Malhazar is the Duelist of Mages, next to Swain and Cassiopiea. You will likely not beat him with another duelist, so you want to poke him down. Duel bad, poke good.
SPACE AIDS. Though in general he seems to be a hit or miss champ. he really only has one combo and lots of wave clear.
Malzahar is countered by teamwork, Try to get him ganked, and poke him with a Ziggs or a Xerath so he's kept too low to commit to a full combo.
