"tower blocking" is pointless and frustrating

edit: holy fuck read the whole post. the tower issue may be "fixed" by pressing ~, but ~ does nothing for the other occurances of this sizing problem

I was maokai and J4 ulted me, I attempted to weave my attacks and spells but I didn't attack J4 once. the reason? the majority of J4's character model was behind a tower, and so I kept clicking the tower, making maokai try to walk around j4 pointlessly.

this also happens if a small champion like jinx is behind a large champion like nautilus. I don't see it often, but there was even a few times when this champion overlap completely hid the adc, to the point that it was invisible and unclickable. (this was during last season tho, the new strategic dynamics of this season tends not to have this situation come up, or maybe it's rarer since I'm in high silver now people are better at not clumping and adc's are better at not trying to be a tank, putting them further away from the big champs)

also since the preseason patch, even after the minion block fix, I have seen multiple times one minion behind an other such that not only was the minion completely invisible but its health bar was too. I've seen it at least once since the most recent update as well.

Agreed. Why am I being punished for not actually being able to click around something? There's plenty of times where I should have had a kill but nope, tower saved you. Attack move doesn't really help either since the tower is closer to you than the enemy champion is

You got outplayed, that's why you're being punished.

By yours and OP's logic let's just remove all walls from the game since they provide the exact same outplay potential and attack-weaving.

I can't accidentally AA a wall, you twit.

You can't accidentally AA a turret either, you twat.

There's a "target champions only" button, use it.

again, for the millionth time, not sufficient means to work around this issue in all cases, only one out of multiple cases.

the issue is how 3d is rendered, and how each thing is considered a thing, together. if you move the map up more, the images are rendered more top-down and it's clearer which unit is which, because they don't overlap as much. this both adds mechanical taxation to the game, and also makes it so that blue vrs red is not even, as red side will have an advantage due to rendering being at a better angle for them.

one thing that would fix the issue, but may not be the best way, is to have units declared by a base instead of by their rendering, and assuming unit collision were handled correctly, this would mean there is never even a little bit of overlap except if a unit passes through another from a knockback or something. to click on a unit, you just need to click the base.

it would even make sense to have an option that puts a slight circle around each unit's base.

What a dumb post.

We've moved from minion blocking to tower blocking now.

There's a button that allows you to target champions only, use it.

lofi n chillhop1 votes

read the whole post -_- the button does nothing when there is a large champ blocking a small one, or minions blocking minions. or towers blocking minions. or champions blocking minions.

Yeah the most common occurrnce of this issue is when im trying to clear minions from under an enemy tower and just cam't click them.

There is a key to target champions only.

I believe it defaults to the ~ key.

your best friend when you only want to target enemy champions.
lofi n chillhop1 votes

thanks this does help a little I thought there was a button but I couldn't find it.

but unfortunately, the issue is when there is one unit overlapping another, and this does not only occur for towers overlapping champs.

Not an issue, a strategy. Look up reverse support Hecarim. Tank Hecarim standing over his adc trist is a strat.

lofi n chillhop1 votes

and I don't think it should exist. it is beneficial to the game very minimally, but negative to the game very often. it would be cool IMO if this weren't the case, but unfortunately all it is is another technical road bump that even if you "master" it to not misplay to it you still can't accomplish what it is you want to achieve. ergo, it should be edited in some way to remove it, as it is essentially nothing but a problem to frustrate all players with.

And I think that a Hecarim with an Elixer of Iron wants to completely cover his adc trist so that the enemy can't target her or what ever other kind of body blocking he can do it should be considered a legit strat.

Wait wait wait.

~ does what now?

IDK its exact functionality, but I'm guessing if you hold it down it makes it so that your clicks prioritize choosing champions.
