New Item Passives
Hey guys, i wanted to bring up some possible item passives that i think would make the game a little bit more interesting.
- True Damage Passives
- Evolution of Phage
- Who supports the supports?
First of all, i would like to talk about true damage. True damage seems to be a really touchy thing to talk about since it essentially has no counterplay, however, i think that it would be meta changing (for the better) to have an item that could deal true damage.
Let me explain myself. Frozen heart is becoming an increasingly OP item for champions like ryze and maokai. it gives them mana, 20% CDR, and that troublesome 100 armor. instead of nerfing frozen heart (its a niche item and is really used to illustrate a point) there should be a way to bypass some of the armor stacks that are accumulating on tanks. I think that an item should be introduced that will deal true damage to a target PASSIVELY. This idea ranges from a BORK passive that does % health per AA, or it could be more like vayne's silver bolts, where % health is done after stacking your AAs. Personally i like the idea of having 3-4% health true damage per AA(on an item that gave: +50 AD, +15% attack speed, +10% CDR and idk +10% crit maybe). i dont feel like thats drastically too OP, as it gives a broader range of options to champions. This would be a feasible step in ending the wet noodle fights that happen in the top lane. Frankly, it can even be made into a melee only item if some see it as too OP for ADCs, as this item would mainly be geared toward a FIGHTER, and not a MARKSMAN.
Second, I like Phage. It is a fantastic item that has a ton of applications... but you can only build it into a trinity force. There needs to be an item extension off of Phage that would allow players to use the mobility aspect of it more effectively. i dont just mean turning up the same passive it has, i mean evolving it.
Allow me to explain myself yet again. Gnars Hyper. Its was a brilliant addition to the game, however i thought it would have been better as an item passive. This is where the lack of Phage continuations comes in. ADs currently have no way to gain health, CDR, AD, and movespeed at the same time (that isnt an overpriced trinity force). I feel like there is a really difficult choice ADs face when trying to build a defensive item, and that is: "GA, BV, or Qss) all of these items have powerful passives/actives, but they dont have any skillcap to utilize it more effectively. If you were to put a hyper passive (but toned down) on an item that could give say 400 Health, 50 AD, and 10% CDR (these are subject to change), then it would provide players with higher skill an even better alternative to just using a really good passive.
Third, I am a support main. There is nothing that is more frustrating that going into my promos, getting an ADC that has no clue what hes doing, and then loosing. I main thresh, i can land a very good portion of my hooks, i flay lee sin out of his 2nd q, i can peel for my ADC like a madman... but if my ADC is bad then my ability to be significant is lowered. A lot of High ELO and pro supports used to be ADCs and have insane mechanical skills... but you cant necessarily utilize your mechanics aside from hitting skillshots. Supports are well... the cheerleaders... the guys behind the scenes, while the ADC has his face next to a doublekill sign, and i want to change that slightly.
Let me explain again... again... a supports kit is geared toward making your adc live, and as xpecial put it, to load the cannonballs onto the cannon. but there has to be some way for a support to be significant even if his cannon is broken and lying in its own rubble. Supports DO have CC, but no burst to follow it up. I would like to see an item like iceborn Gauntlets emerge, but instead of focusing on just tankiness and CC, have it focus on hybrid damage. Being able to get AP/AD on a support is significant because supports tend to have AP scaling on abilities but use AAs to proc some of them, or abilities are used to get them into AA range. When i play fighter thresh (surprisingly viable) i tend to build Rageblade. it gives me AD which increases my Es passive dmg, and allows me to continuously bully lane with AAs; it gives me AP which makes my abilities more effective, and allows me to use my q to poke; and it gives me even more Wifesteal(<3 u lucian mains). While it DOES offer a jax passive, which i think is really underrated, it doesnt offer any CC, CD, or an active that can give me more options. i would like to see another hybrid item created that would give me some CC and CD. ITEM OF MY DREAMS- +10% CDR, +50 AP, +40 AD, +300 health, with a passive that allows me to slow an enemy on AA.
All of these ideas are just that... ideas... i fully recognize that i dont really know what diamond and platinum elos are like, since im JUST AN AVERAGE gamer (with an above average thresh ;D) so please give me your feedback and let me know what you think. All of these ideas are geared towards rustling up the meta a bit and allowing people to just have more options, which i think league tends to lack(in terms of items, champs, and summoner spells)
