Some ideas on how to make fabulous guy good

You know who I mean, this guy Taric who has it out to smash your ass with his precious stones.

I heard Riot wanted to rework my main man, so I gotta give my thoughts on it. As you can see, I've played this fabulous man quite a bit, so it's not like I played him 1 game and thought I was mlg pro. I even used him to get out of Satan's personal torture chamber known as platinum (and into the bottom of hell, low diamond). He's actually not the worst thing in the world, it's just that he doesn't have anything interesting in his kit to do anything flashy with. He just kinda sits there while giving his team every stat known to man and stunning anyone who comes near his carry. Now I want to give my thoughts on what riot could do to make the gay gladiator not only interesting, but possibly competitively viable.

Right now he works as a tanky healer that can provide everyone with useful stats, and can provide half decent supportive CC and damage. That's his niche and I feel like it fits his character well, but how can we make his kit fit this niche better? Well, I've spitballed some ideas in my head that I want to show to you guys and see what you all think.

(these are not the end all best ideas, but might spark new ideas off of them.)

  1. His e, Dazzle, having an AoE stun - Right now its just a really low cooldown (if used with his passive correctly) point and click peel CC that can be used possibly for picks and deals laughable damage at best. One thought I had, was making this ability stun all targets around the main target in a small radius (about the size of his shatter) for HALF the duration as well. This would make timing of this ability key to using it correctly and would make there a possibility for counterplay of this ability (not clumping up when he has his stun ready). Having a point and click AoE stun though is a big thing, so if this were to be a change, then the cooldown for dazzle OR his passive making all of his cooldowns insanely low would need to be changed.

  2. Changing his ultimate - This thing is just an AoE ap/ad steroid with some useful damage at the moment. It's definitely useful, don't get me wrong, but it just does too little for being his ultimate ability. (I had 3 ideas so I marked them with a "-") -Personally, I think if it had some form of CC on it when he used the initial damage on it (a stun or slow), this ability would be quite good for being a follow up to your team's initiations. Just imagine a Malphite landing a beautiful 5 man ultimate then followed up by the fabulous Taric flash ult stun for the ace. -another possible change, which is a little more out there, is giving all allies but NOT himself, within the radius of his aura on activation gained CC immunity for 2 seconds. No other champion really has anything like that (except for bullshit Morgana shield which we do not speak of here), and would make his gameplay unique from many other champions. Also, since it would not apply to himself, he can't just use it to be an annoying bruiser that 1v5's your whole team, and makes him have to be with his team to be effective. Both of these though might be too good for its possible short cooldown with his passive, so making its cooldown much higher (like 160/140/120 for the CC one) would make it balanced. -One final possible change would be making the bonus aura stats be a % of his own AP and AD. This way it's not almost useless in the lategame, and could encourage him to build offensive items if his team is ahead to provide even larger buffs to his allies. With this change, it would make the Taric player have 3 choices in his build paths- 1. Build tank to be a huge wall that gives allies defensive stats. (items like item 3190 and item 3110, like how he normally does.) 2. Build AD to give his allies massive AD buffs.(items like item 3071 and item 3050) 3. Build AP and give his allies an AP buff, which would also buff his heal amount making him have to play different (more back and spam out heals when he can) than normal (items like item 3001 and item 3116 ).

  3. moving his passive only onto his q and giving him a new one - His passive right now is actually REALLY good, but all of his 4 main abilities do little to nothing. But what if his cooldown reduction passive only applied to his heal, making him still be able to spam heal his allies if he is in combat, and he had gained a new passive that fits into his kit well. One possible passive I had thought of was making his armor bonus on his w, shatter, his passive, then reworking his w slightly. Taric isn't meant to be healbot9000, which he's not, and making him forced to hit things to heal his allies is a good mechanic he already has, so keeping that in his kit would keep his feel of this paladin that heals and tanks. Also without his insane passive, his other abilities can actually do something useful, instead of being a bunch of really mediocre at best abilities that all just have insanely low cooldowns.

These are just some ideas I have thought of in my adventures with Taric , and I don't want to see him ruined like some of the other reworks recently (COUGH COUGH Zilean Ryze). I just hope Riot realizes his niche of this pseudo front line paladin-like tank that lets his team do the work for him as he provides buffs and sets up everything for his team, which no other champion fills better, and keeps it that way however they decide to change him. Please tell me what you think of this, and tell me any ideas you have as well so we can not let this Ryze happen to the most fabulous man in the league.

Because Taric is "more than just precious stones" 8^)

Sounds good enough. Lay off on the forced memes though.

I agree Taric needs some help in terms of his kit being competitively viable. However, what your writing makes it sound like Leona on steroids. I mean if you compare what you just wrote to Leona, his basic kit seems really op. Leona needs to hit Zenith Blade and then get a single target stun off, effectively using 2 cds to actually enable the stun and follow up. In addition, her W, if you think about it from a damage prevented/damage healed from Taric's heal in a normal lane trade, it's comparable on herself, but he has the benefit of being able to heal allies as well. I agree Taric should recieve some kind of small AoE on his Dazzle, but given that, it needs to: 1. Have counterplay via it being a skillshot and 2. Have another skill in his kit changed to act as an activator for Dazzle (like a skill you have to use that makes his other skills cost more mana and go on a higher cd, but have a small AoE effect). Otherwise, his Dazzle sounds like a mini Sej ult and considering Sej is largely defined by that ability in teamfights, makes Taric seem way too good, given that it's not even his ulti.
