Mao'kai's Root

Whenever I face Mao there's an instance where his root shouldn't have violently switched direction, or go way too far. It feels like a super unfair mechanic.

Edit: I do know it's a targeted dash, sorry for not being clear

Edit: Not sure why added an apostrophe in the title

Maokai's root is a targeted dash. You can't avoid it once it starts.

This is true, except for Vlad right? Or does he simply root to the center of the Pool and lock Vlad down there?

It would be amazingly awesome to see a Mao root a Panth in Ult, but the Root not land (make contact with Hit Box) until Panth is already off the ground (at which point he ceases to receive damage until he lands), they both Mastery while airborne putting the Symbols on the ground where Skyfall will land, and continue their battle there. That would be uber epic.

The dash will be cancelled if his target becomes untargetable before he reaches them, including Vlad's pool, Fizz's pole, or Zhonya's. It also gets cancelled if the champion teleports, though Maokai will follow a Pantheon if he ults.
