Can we...talk about this - the new rank system?

Just wanted to post a note to see what people think of the new rank system. I haven't done my placement yet but a friend of mine did.

He did 10 placement matches as a JG and landed on plat 4. (me = jealous)

Then he played 1 as a top laner> then got 3(!!!) LP while getting the initial rank for the top (therefore 7 more games to go again for the top role he found out!)

Now, I understand due to the "splash" of LPs to all lanes on wins and loses, this probably should make sense. Yet I somehow thought you would get a "main" LP or MMR, regardless of any lane you play, while splashing LP happens in the background to each lane. I was wrong...

So this means, 1) you do have to go through promos for EACH role and 2) although you win a ranked game, unless you play your highest ranked role, you only get a few LPs?

Another downside I witnessed was.. the "unbalancedness" of players; some may be in high MMR for certain positions, yet their overall game knowledge and skills could a bit "off", as some could be a low rank, highly concentrated on one role only. Better game experience-- negative.

Can someone tell me how this is better than the old system? What are the benefits for the "players"???

The new placement match method (being transparent showing your win/loss progress) seemed like a very positive update in my view yet I can't turn my head around what the positives are with the new rank system..............

Thoughts?

I hate it. I want the old ranked system back, climbing feels like a chore now and was super fun earlier...plus, if you wanted to consistently climb; you had to have knowledge of each role and what it does. This might be the thing that finally breaks me and allows me to do more productive shit with my life. Screw this new system.
