I am sure this has been discussed before but looking for the latest and greatest to confirm the info from the past. If I power level an account then need to grind out IP before playing ranked, do "Normal" matches affect where I will start my placement matches for ranked? I read that there is a "Normals" Elo/mmr system but does it affect ranked play?

Mysticman891 votesMMR's for different queues are completely separate, so normals don't impact ranked mmr and vice versa.
This is why you get some people who feel they're plat level players but elo hell is keeping them in silver (as they may be matched with plats in normals), and also why you sometimes have people facing diamonds in normals despite being bronze level players (as high elo players usually haven't had their normals elo catch up).
