can we discuss caitlyns weakness?

I have been pondering this for a good while and i want to ask, what is the downside of caitlyn as an adc? ~She brings the longest range at 650 aside from scaling ranges of Tristana & Jinx of course, being the assumed safer adc due to the range alone. ~ has mobility with her net, which is not that much, but can save her ass a lot. ~Her q is decent, not amazing, but the first target hit can fuck people up hard, and 1250 range ~her traps... makes her her own control mage, sets up a safe space that you cannot remove unless you take the free headshot, or wait 90 sec... and has nothing to fear when you mix it with the net and range. ~And item 3085 abuses her passive

^ but the traps are my major beef, why is she able to have safety on top of safety on top of safety? Isn't the entire role of support to make sure the adc is safe and assist them in setting up kills?

I don't want to do this as a rant, or flame, i just really want to ask, is she overtuned? too safe? is anything above wrong? I just want to know, where is caityln's weak point when she sets up her safe space and sieges?

She supposedly has a weak midgame. I wouldn't know.

<everything here relative to other ADCs>

Caitlyn's sustained damage and 1v1 are not particularly strong. (They're not necessarily the worst, but they're her weak points.) If she and her opponent have the same items and start out with full health, she will lose a 1v1 versus almost all other ADCs due to a difference in steroids, combat ability scaling, and base stats.

  • Her base AS is exceptionally low. It's the second lowest in the game (ahead of only Graves). This means the AS increases she gets from bonus AS (levels and items) will benefit her less than other ADCs in a strict DPS count.
  • All four of her skills are damaging spells, but she cannot expect to hit 3 of them in a close quarters fight. (Q and R will actually lower her DPS even if she does hit with them once she has enough items.) No other ADC has as much power budget put into abilities that have as low reliability in 1v1 fights.
  • Her steroid (Headshot) is good for poking and burst damage, but its DPS is poor in comparison to most other ADCs' steroids.

She can work around the weaknesses, like most champs. Her safety makes it less likely that she'll fall super far behind, so she can cover her base stats with gold earned from high CS. She can use her abilities ahead of time and whittle down some opponents before she gets into the "fight to the death" part. And she can buy Runaan's and stand in bushes to make more use of Headshot.

Where is her weak point when she sets up and sieges? Well, you've sort of already failed at that point. That's where Caitlyn is supposed to be strong, and she wins when she can do that as she wants. (It's sort of like asking how to find Sivir's weak point when she ults at you with 3 bruisers on her team, or how to find Vayne's weak point when you're 1v1ing her in the jungle with no pink ward.)

How do you make the best of the situation anyway? Wave clear with Ziggs, have your Tryndamere/Nasus/(other split pusher that can 1v1 anyone on their team)pushing top lane, and have Nocturne waiting on the flank for your Leona's ult engage, and then bring the fight to her. Or if you see her gearing up to siege, get a different objective.

there'd be nothing to discuss

she is skillshot reliant with the exception of her ult but she outputs more damage than most adcs even with the range bonus which is bs imo, he damage needs tuning and we should be able to hit her traps if they're under turret because that becomes a big problem as they're already powerful, if you land your whole combo as cait the enemy is forced to recall and that's just not fair
