Banner of Command revisited
So, I was on the youtubes and watched Exil's video from months ago about the history of Banner of Command, right up to the horrible balance patching that killed it at the end. So, I got to thinking, and the solution I came to was promote = minion suicide bomber, not unlike sappers from Age of Empires or whatever the unit was called in Warhammer.
Promote a minion, it charges toward the turret like herald and deals damage, though the same amount as herald would be silly... it's a minion (though a promoted baron minion should be more powerful). This removes the problem of getting baron and then just sitting back and watching since the minion does still have to close with the turret, maybe the charge distance/range could be adjusted to make using the item more part of an aggressive siege effort rather than a standoff siege.
C'mon. You know you want to.
Edit: I just had another thought. What if promote meant exactly that? That minion now counts as a champion for spell/ability interactions, for example a Nami could use a promoted minion to bounce her w at someone out of range. Janna could shield it while the little guy prepares for his suicide charge.
