So I've been watching the yootoobs, and stumbled onto solorenektons video on smite ekko, and was like hey, yeah, smite builds on non jungle champs! ... I don't play mid or top, so I was like Hell yeah, SMITECRANK! ... except after starting the game I remembered why I didn't even have a rune page for smitecrank anymore... you can't buy the jungle items if you have a support item.

What exactly was so OP about supports having this that isn't OP when a mid or top has it? I mean, you're normally behind everyone on your team goldwise anyway and we're letting mid and top laners get a cheaper ludens...

Where's the love for support? -_- lift the ban on jg items.

The issue is less about Supports grabbing Smite and Jungle Items, it's more about Junglers taking Support Items

It's part of the Vision nerfs from last season. "Runes Reforged" added a lot of vision and vision focus that was never in the game before (there had never been any Vision-related runes or masteries). When they removed Green Smite, the next patch saw junglers building Relic Shield, etc, so they nixxed that as well. Also, it's a nerf to gold-funnelling.

But, yeah, it's unfair and artificial and constricting, and is another "band-aid" that highlights the problems created in the game over the past 2 seasons.
