Positioning help.

I find that my positioning in team fights isnt the greatest and so being an affective adc is hard. And in general it can effect other roles. Is there any tips you can give to help improve my positioning. Suggested champions to help with it as well, like ones that require it. They dont have to be an adc as i dont really play it much.

Any champion should care about positioning, but those who require it most are adcs nowadays, otherwise assassins and mages also need solid positioning.

Tip as an adcarry - your goal in teamfights is to survive while dealing damage consistently. NEVER flash or dash into the enemy team, and when escaping assassins like Zed Rengar don't necessarily run back the most, better is to run more into your team or at least near them so they could either heal you / protect you or lock down the assassin and burst it down. You also never want to be in range of the enemy mid laners, because they can decimate you with no problem at all.

ADCs are the highest dps class in the game, the longer you stay alive the more likely you are to win the team fight for your team assuming you and the enemy team are equal in gold.

Disclaimer: I'm not the greatest at positioning either.

However, a tip that I have been given is to shoot the person that you can reach without endangering yourself. Don't stand close to an enemy tank with CC because people are yelling at you for 'focusing the tank'. Otherwise he can probably lock you up for his damage dealers to take out.

ADC's are more for high sustained damage than bursting someone out anyway, which means you're best suited to kill beefy people. If a mage tries it for instance, their combo won't kill them and then the mage just stares around for a while.

Finally, part of positioning does sort of depend on map awareness. Is someone on the enemy team missing? Are they trying for a flank? Make sure to ward possible side flank routes to protect yourself and shy away from being in the back near a dark part of the jungle.

If you're playing Jinx or Kogmaw, do your best to maintain good position. But if the shit hits the fan, just shoot.

My general adc advice:

  1. stay back and attack the target in front of you. trying to snipe out squishier targets often requires you to move too close to enemy champs and gets you in trouble.
  2. be aware of the abilities enemy champs have that can reach you and stay just out of range. they will often blow the ability on something else after not being able to reach you for a few seconds and you can take the opportunity to start AA'ing. May seem wrong to let your teammate take the hits, but adc's are often the bulk of the team's damage, so your safety is priority.

let me know if you have more specific questions, i can try to help.
