Hey, I watched this recently and I have to say I really enjoyed it. However, I am very frustrated. I watched this video and literally was thinking 'yes this is amazing' and gaining renewed hope for league as a game the entire thing.
However, as I have thought about it the last few days it just makes me really frustrated. Because while you talk about die hard gamers in the niche of wanting to play and master one game, and also talk about not apealing to the masses. This is the exact opposite of where your game is going. Every year we see changes that are the complete opposite of what you said.
You increased the exp to make it harder to shut down your opponent. (1600 range now. ROFL. It's literally impossible to zone someone from exp unless your sacrificing cs) You increased ambient gold (granted the reasons for this were pure) You enforced the duo bot lane meta by removing the fortification botlane. Constant changes to jungle making it less skill based because of catch-up exp Adding timers for jungle camps. Adding timers for inhibs. These new braindead runes that don't have to be planned out in advance. (niche rune pages don't exist anymore aside from very specific champions) Everyone gets 40% cdr now (even champions who shouldn't have it) also you don't sacrifice anything for it. To the extent that you literally had to add a rune that made it so overcapping cdr didn't punish you Cheap ass balancing on tanks (%max HP anyone????) Increasing the game speed to appeal to casual gamers and LCS viewers. (this is literally the worst because it flies in the face of everything you said in the video about the hardcore gamers being the priority)
I feel like you believe that your trying to balance for your niche. But you couldn't be more wrong. You changed this game from a game of depth with multiple strategies and viable teamcomps and playstyles, emphasizing on personal skill, to be a watered down FPS-moba shadow of what it once was.
Now there is only one viable strategy. There are no more splitting comps. There are no more poke comps. There are no more protect the log comps. Stalling for late game is no longer a strategy.
The only viable strategy left is to pick a teamfighting comp (which almost all the champions are being reworked to fit into) and try to take Baron. And if you take Baron you win.
I don't even know if you will see this or not. But please, if you do. Take a hard look at where league was earlier to where it is now. And ask yourself. Honestly. Is this the same game that is geared towards gamers who want to put in hundreds of hours mastering? Or is this a casual internet cafe game.
Peace, Automated Riven.
