Why can't you choose to be Oathsworn?
I've noticed you don't really have the choice to be Oathsworn to Kalista, what's up with that? She sort of just rapes you with her spear... Do other people choose? Cause I never get to :/

Probably because they deemed it better to guarantee that she can have an ult and potential misuse it than to have the possibility of not getting an ult.
I kind of agree because as the oathsworn you still get to choose the direction you get launched back out at and it is almost the same range as the pull.
Well for one, most people wouldn't voluntarily be Oathsworn to a Kalista they weren't confident in, which means she'd lose a decent amount of damage from her W passive. >>Assuming you found a support that was aware enough with Kalista's W to actually auto attack minions with the mark on them<<
