Defensive Input Buffering

Offensive Input Buffering

Sometimes our reflexes aren’t fast enough. When Lee Sin dives in to Insec or Alistar goes for your squishy to Headbutt+Pulverize, a difference of two-tenths of a second can make or break an important teamfight.

With input buffering, you can anticipate your opponent’s movements and queue up spells to go off as soon as your target comes in range.

In today’s special double video feature, educational youtuber Bodytags goes over why and how to use input buffering, and then follows it up with how you can add Flash to the mix for a particularly deadly combination.

How have you used anticipation to outplay an opponent? Let us know in the comments below!

This is the kind of content that the community needs. I am tired of all the memes and stuff. Post more of this and I will up vote it, every time. :)

If I didn't see this post I'd never know about input buffering. Tbh there should be an official page with all advanced techniques. On that page you will learn stutter step, input buffering, etc.

People don't expect the Flash > Ebb & Flow for the supp to get a kill on a fed carry

They are talking about Input buffering and shiz, but how the actual fuck do you do it, or am I that dumb and missed it on both videos

This is awesome! Anticipating anyone's abilities or attacks are probably one of my favorite things - of course when I'm correct and it goes my way. Whether it's dodging an Ahri Charm or an Ashe Arrow, or even planning ahead to Thresh Hook the double flash Ezreal, it's always very rewarding or extremely disappointing...welp. GLHF on the Rift

So let me get this straight. You target your enemy with the ability, but it doesn't force you to walk toward them and instead the ability only activates once they've come in range? how does that work? when I activate an ability(like Swain's Q) on an enemy champion out of range, but then use a movement command to stop myself from walking towards them, my ability cancels. Is there an option in the menu u have to enable for this to work?

Kitten of Evil10/30/2015, 5:51:15 PM4 votes

Well, I guess now I know why I like skillshot champions more. They can't input buffer, so my Vel'Koz/Lux/Kennen game isn't weaker for not knowing how to do it (yet!)

Learned this through Smash Bros. Applied it here. Didn't realize it was so relevant!

Zénith10/29/2015, 8:06:55 PM4 votes

So does input buffering work on ALL champions? I've been doing a lot of input buffering unconsciously anyways, especially on Talon :P.

I like the part where the 3 level behind Veigar with basically no items did half of Yasuos (one of his biggest "counters"), HP with ult Kappa

Jk thats a pretty cool mechanic, I never knew that actually worked lol.

I'm trying to understand the first example with vayne versus nidalee.

I'm confused by what you mean when you say you're cancelling condemn with another animation. It appears you cast condemn while out of range, then you issue a move command. Is the move command what you mean when you say another animation?

I think the idea is you only want condemn to fire if and when nidalee uses her jump. So is the idea i want to condemn while nidalee is out of range, then cancel it if i think she isn't going to jump? And then say after i cancel, she turns away i would want to reapply condemn and cancel when i think she's about to jump if i don't think she's going to jump? So it's like a mind game? :S

Or do i still want to do the cancel if i think she's going to jump/see her start jumping?

EDIT: i said that last part wrong.

Not trying to downplay his content but why not just say "spam skills" thats all hes doing really. Pretty sure everyone already does this? Spam a skill while they chase your or you chase them so it goes off instantly either when its up or when you get in range, fairly basic isint it?

Aitikian10/30/2015, 3:25:46 AM1 votes

Thanks I learned today that what really separates pro players, skilled players, and normal players isn't skill but ping rate, macros, and things like input buffering, so instead of requiring skill and reaction time we can just macro or input buffer.
