Why do people make such a big fuss if the support gets the kill?
As long as I let you farm there's no problem in me getting a kill if you also get an assist.

Because adc powerspike way harder and have much more expansive items, that's why the support dont take farm and have gold generating items, their items are not so expensive and they can live on smaller income. on the other hand, comming back to lane with a BF sword instead of a pick axe is a major difference in power.
im talking about taking kills on purpose from your adc btw, not securing kills that can get away - securing kills is always okay no matter your role

So
apparently
I
don't
power
spike
with
items
oh i forgot the classic "support" lux who builds 1st support item then rushes full AP build, or the classic brand "support" that outdamages carries. oh wait, they arent supports, they are just mages who didnt get midlane and let the adc farm while they farm poke (not that im saying it's bad play, but you arent playing 'support')

yeah well you get idoits like that
i lux support all the time...
x2 ->

(replacing

then you can go damage...
that is not how support works...
well in that case, you dont spike, now do you? you just proved my point. you build utility items that are cheap, like sight stone, ardent, etc.. you wont get AP items until much later in the game.
Disregard haters. Acquire damage.
because end game personal stats mean something to fragile egos...
Carries make better use of the gold in the end. Although its nbd if the support ends up with the kill.

that's not really true in all cases, AP carry supports probably get more benefit in many scenarios because they are generally stronger and more impactful champions early. a brand with some extra pen he wouldn't normally have is a lot more scary than ashe with two extra long swords
ADC's scale best with gold, so losing 150 gold from a kill (or more) kinda hurts.
Debatable.
And no it doesn't hurt, because they still have farm.
Yes, but they could have more. That's the thing.
And supports have scaling and powerful items to buy.
And ADC's have BETTER scaling and powerful items to buy. All their stats have insane synergy with each other, putting their DPS to dumb, dumb, dumb points of damage.
Debatable. They can get plenty of damage from just farm and assist gold while also not requiring the team to put a lot of eggs into a single, squishy basket.
Also last I checked no Marksmen have scaling slows, shields, heals that they can apply to other team members. As a whole they are a pretty selfish class of character, which you may not to invest too much into depending on your team composition.
its better for the adc to get the kills. but its not imperative.
i mean if the support if actively trying to KS you that is a problem. they should try to give the kills to the adc whenever possible.
but as a player who plays support.. if i even THINK my adc isn't going to he the kill or he is going to die. i take it.
there is no point risking them get away or get a kill themselves, in order to let my adc get the kill instead of me.
Usually because they can rush IE/PD/Runaans/Boots/ faster and it's much easier to win the game when the adc is 4/0 and not 0/4/4 and the support is supposed to save the carries and support the team, so if they try to go all in and die they will give the other team kill bonus gold. it's different if the adc has to stay away/about to die/too slow to catch the kill
as long as the support isn't trying to take kills that the adc, jungle, or whoever can get without dying for sure its fine. sometimes it happens on accident (fine) or if the support is trying to prevent death (also fine). i rarely get ragers when i get kills as a support
If they were a good adc, they'd be able to last hit and get the kill. That's the way I see it.
I never try to intentionally take kills unless the adc is too far away or I believe the adc is going to die if I don't. Most of the time it's an accident.
It's counterproductive, and it resets your gold value if you're in the position of needing to die for your carry, (sometimes you're even 'shut down' gold) - no-one'll peel for you either, even if you're forced to go full AP because your mid is 2/12. Like other people said- adc powerspikes are also intensely important.
HOWEVER.
The situations where you want to do it are numerous. My favourite is the psychological play of killing the enemy adc and getting the entire team to focus you... on a tank.
People don't know that Supports also deal damage and have scalings.
But that's not their primary role, and the characters that get played in the support role do so because they can have a large impact without a large amount of scaling.
And they can have an even larger impact if they get items that they scale with.
If my ADC has to rely on me for damaging and killing the lane opponents, then they don't deserve the kills at all. They wont do anything with them anyways if they don't know how to play. I've seen time and time again that ADCs who blame me for taking kills don't play very well. They will dash/Tumble into the enemy team and yell at me for no peel. Chill ADCs who plan to secure kills in any way tend to play safe and smart. Chill ADCs who's name isn't "Vayne".
I don't see it happen, but I also play ADC and don't really care if the support got the kill if it wasn't safe to try to hand it off. I get to free farm, hit the turret, then get a free recall in.
But the most sad is when you kill a enemy that is running out of adc range or attacking hard the adc near to die....but that kids rage to hahahaha
They want more to die or the enemy still alive than you a allie have the kill and can be better than him at the end? Crazy
This people are only players playing for numbers and not teamwork.
A support with some money can save better the team and also add damage but the weak souls only want numbers for them.
Early game you should try not to take kills from your carries. Especially from your adc. You do know getting your carries item advantage is a good thing right? You disappoint me fellow support main.
I don't try to take it, but when I do everyone makes such a big deal even tho I didn't mean to. Also 150 gold isn't too much since after 1 of the laners was defeated (or both) the adc has time to farm.
Sometimes you have to take one. If your ADC is chunked down low and one shot will get him, well you'd better take that kill rather than him dying. If your ADC had to back out of the play or something go ahead and take one. But other than that you should give your ADC the kill if you can. His items are expensive and he needs more of them. Further, if you take a kill, it resets your value of being killed back up.
