Incoming Kayle rework.

With the previous reworks (talking about and specificaly) as an old kayle player, i am very concerned that her complete rework is going to make her like them. I really do wonder who is leading her rework so that we may get an idea on what she is going to be like.

We've been aware of Kayle and Morgana's VGU since at least August 2018 (this image was in the Riot Roadmap revealing that), and even then, it was heavily hinted before then.

Kayle desperately needs a VGU, and while I understand you may have some attachment to her, her current kit is old, stale, and kind of a weird hodgepodge of abilities that don't really allow her to focus on what she's supposed to do. They said they're preserving her transition into a late game ranged champion, but I doubt they're keeping E as it is (I suspect an increasing range like Tristana's passive as a passive somewhere in her kit), and they also said they're preserving her R (though with a mana cost). Other than that, the rest of her kit is pretty forgettable and incredibly generic.

Totally before then even. They were files indicating that a major change was coming for both of them since last January.

Yeah, kayle as many, many other champions are outdated. You described her perfectly as what she is right now. The problem is, that the newest reworks have been unbalanced to say the least and im not looking forward to making her like that. And since you mentionted the roadmap, in that i saw that many other champions like udyr, morde, skarner etc are going to get something changed and again i hope they dont make her and them like the recent reworks.

Isn't she at least keeping her old E in some form? They did nention her beu g a melee then ranged scale increasing champion in champion roadmap months ago.

They specifically said they're keeping her transition to ranged as she hits late game. They never mentioned anything about keeping her E.

Isn't that what her old E used to do too? Her old self uses her E mire and more often the more she ranks it up and scales into late game, so what difference is this from the champion roadmap description then?

The difference is they could give her permanent range increases via a passive, such as Tristana's, attached to an ability or her actual passive, or they could make her E some kind of toggle that grants her range at the cost of mana/attack, like Jinx's rockets. I think her current E is the most awkward to manage ability in the game, and I just hope it goes.

...if that's the case then her laning seriously going to be messed up.

Not really. If her range grows based on her level, it would most likely be tied to her passive or her ultimate. That way, she's got a locked time when her range grows (Lvl 6), at which point it wouldn't be much and she'd essentially be as ranged as Teemo, Jayce, or Kennen. Then, at other milestones as she goes (be it level like how Garen's passive upgrades, or points in her ult), she'd get progressively more ranged. And even then, her laning still isn't fucked, because the longer the game draws on, the less likely laning will still be going on.

I personally think it's an interesting ability, but eh, hard to bring something like that into the modern world by keeping it as is. The Trist passive type thing could work maybe.

A few things. It could be that she starts off as melee and passively gains range at some point.

Or even that her current E is in some way her ultimate now.

She could very well be reworked into a melee champion with an ult that’s a combination of her current E and R.

We just don’t know, she’s so basic right now that this could go any way they want.

I think there are also people who want her to remain support viable, let's hope whatever they do it stays to the nature of the champ, unlike Aatrox.

If anything anyone planning to rework a champ should play nothing but that champ first, get to know them, hang out (anonymously) in fan pages etc. The decide on the direction.

I'm definitely in that camp. I love to play oddball champs in the support role. That included pre-rework Galio and Urgot, once or twice with pre-rework Aatrox, and recently with Skarner. I especially like Kayle in bot lane because she can actually serve either as a fighty support or as a utility-heavy adc. I really hope they preserve that duality.

would be surprised if they didn't turn her into a completely focused botlane AA APC with a lot of interaction with morgana similar to xayah and rakan

Recently got autofilled jungle in a ranked game, switched to top and played Kayle (I normally play adc). Got shit on in lane by Aatrox, managed to survive laning face (although i was 2 levels behind). I ended up getting a quadra kill in a teamfight when the enemy team ignored me and i could just right click away. Fun champion. :)
