What if Ryze's auto attacks counted as spells.
At the moment, Ryze is feeling very toned down with only five spell casts during Arcane Mastery. A common scenario is this:
Dragon is up. Both teams have all members gathered. A team mate is getting beat down, and the allies are unsure whether to follow. Then, their Ryze runs in, ghosted, radiating purple, so allies jump in.
Enemies are wary and try to back up, but it's too late. An enemy champion is rooted down, unable to run, unable to fight. Its friends cannot help, or they'll get hit with Spell Flux, only to add more damage to the original target.
Ryze weaves spell after spell. REQWQEQWEQ. It looks like a rave with blue lights, enemies pinging fall back to the beat. But then, Ryze suddenly stops. His allies are confused. He then begins running in the opposite direction, and it is now a 4vs5. Ryze can only watch from a distance as his team gets mauled down.
Ryze is quite weak when he doesn't have access to his passive. If he were to stay in battle during this time, all he can do to help in auto attack (which does little damage). I suggest that during his ultimate, his auto attacks add stacks to his passive, while doing a bit (just a small amount) of magic damage based on mana/ap.
Ryze would still definitely be weaker than he was pre-6.3, but this would lower the window of time where he's a caster minion. Also, this would open up new builds and make his play style a lot more versatile. I think adding the small bit of magic damage at least would be a good idea. The thing which bothers me the most about Ryze is that he throws out magic, which neither scales nor does magic damage, and is useless to his kit. Opinions?
