Ive been hearing about this for some time now, even nerfplz says he is god tier but i just dissmised it as fotm, but last game a YORICK was beaten out of lane because he was OUT HARASSES AS YORICK, and fed all game because he would just get jumped on in mega form at 1/3 hp. Now normaly i have no issue with gnar and just pick jax/renek/jayce and wreck his furry ass but everything i find says he's op

Because he stopped being new.

Only people who genuinely like Gnar play Gnar now, and those players are getting good with him. The same thing for Azir, except Azir's still being held back by a bunch of bugs/weird behavior on casting abilities. I don't think it means these champions are OP, just that people have come across so few good players that when a good player does show up they don't know what to do about it.

He is just extremely oppressive. It's very difficult to lose lane when playing Gnar because he can safely kite and chunk his lane opponent. When he becomes Mega Gnar he can do a deceptively high amount of damage while also becoming extremely tanky. He has an amazing lane phase and is extremely good in teamfights when he is in his mega form.

Not used much and he has a weird kit, so often people arent sure what to expect.
