Why do we have divisions?
I wish we could just go back to Elo. Skill is a continuum not discrete.
The problem I have with promos and ultimately divisions is that I main supports and mages. They're not hyper carries. So if I play well, but get bad teammates in my first couple games (RNG) then I'm going to end up silver. Once in silver, it will take quite a lot of games to carry out as a support or any non-meta character.
This wouldn't be an issue with a continuum. Over 100 games I'm going to be gold/plat. I'm gold/plat every season on every account. The amount of games it takes to get there usually depends on the first couple placements games. They shouldn't have that much weight.
Sure, Tyler1 placed silver II this season and he's made it to masters. I'm not tyler 1. I can't always hyper carry in silver. Especially since I don't play shit like Talon mid.
I do well in most of my games. I'm not the 19/1 talon that just completely shit on your team. I'm the 5/5/30 support that roams constantly and has a positive impact on the game and wards a ton. I win about 60% of my games in a season because I have a positive impact on my teams. Being consistently useful is how you climb in an elo system. It doesn't necessarily work in the current system because things like promos put artificially high weight on some individual games rather than looking at your performance as a whole.
I find it quite frustrating.
