Why do people contest Ascension buff if you're team is 2 vs 5?

Unlike Baren where you can steal it, I don't understand why everyone still try to steal it when they only have 2 people alive instead of waiting for teammates to spawn. I know there's the chance that I may be missing something since there has to be a reason if EVERYONE is doing it, however, I fail to make any sense out of it.

1. You have to win the team fight in order to get Ascension, therefore, if you don't have a champion with a displace skill(knockback), the chances of you getting the buff is 0% unless your mechanics are more than 20 times better than the entire enemy team. And I am talking about people with hundreds of games, not smurfs.(aka...your enemy is at your level)

2. Late game spawn time is crazy long. Therefore, fighting a baren fight 2 vs 5 not only still give them Baren, it delays the time your team can port in(giving enemy more time to capture more points) or give them more free kills by your team just port in despite lacking in numbers and get killed in a 2 - 3 vs 5 if you're in low elo. WHY WOULD EVERYONE PICK A:

FREE BAREN vs FREE BAREN + 2 KILLS.

and almost everyone(higher than 97% of the people) pick the ladder????????

Can someone explain to me what I am not understanding? At Baren, at least you have "some chance" of stealing it, but in Ascension, there's 0% chance. What kind of logical people will think "I have a 0% chance of success, sounds great, let me do it!"
