If a teammate gets auto filled, is there anything you can do to help him out?

Especially if nobody on your team, including you can swap with that guy. Basically, I had a game where I supported a mid lane main auto filled to ADC. I got him fed early game, but as soon as team fight started:

He died really easy due to his positioning.
Could barely get much damage in during team fights compared to an ADC main.

We happened to have a 0/10 renekton, so other people contributed to the loss of the game too, but I just wished I was smart enough to know what to do to help when something like this happens.

From your experience, what would you do and what could you do to help, whenever you have a teammate that was auto filled. Not just in this situations?

As a support main, i'd do my best to help him in lane... attempt to make sure he doesn't fall too far behind if he does... but as the game progresses i'd see whose doing the best and mainly focus on said person doing the best.

Best you can do is communicate and see what you can get done.

Few games ago my adc was autofilled and he was struggling so i let him know what the game plan was, he accepted it... luckily our mid was doing fantastic so i focused on keeping him alive more than the adc.

I see, so:

communication is the key.
try to help out people who's doing the best on the team at the moment.

I once had a auto filled jungler, what I tried to do was to have everyone on the team give that person jungling tips. Luckily there was a jungle main and didn't swap with him because he really wanted to play top lane that particular game, but at least, I was able to talk him into giving the auto fill jungler tips throughout the game.

Out of curiosity, what would you do if you were the support in my game? I was playing Leona, and the auto filled Lucian was 5/1. However, due to not being an ADC main, he was positioning badly and keep getting caught or sometimes gets zoned out of fights and not doing any damage. We had a 0/10 renekton, so we didn't really have much of a tank and I sometimes have to try to engage instead. Should I had just tried to not engage or only ult engage and then stay with Lucian the whole game instead?

We had: Lucian(fed) Leona(me) Ahri(fed) Renekton(0/10 -> 4/13 at the end of the game) Mundo(fed)

They had: Vayne(lost lane but ended out out scaling all of us) Thresh Cassiopia(fed) Gragus(doing decent) Sion(doing below average)

However, they basically just outscaled us and destroyed us...

Could you had been able to give him insight on how to position in team fights?

I cant say what i would have done preciously unless i was actually myself doing it, but prob try to assist the lucian into getting into position before we fought assuming we were the one engaging(also assuming he's willing to listen to suggestions)

But i would more than like use my entire protective time spent with the ahri as she seems the most reliable according to what you've said, and if the lucian popped off well in the fight then that's a bonus.

but yea, i would make ahri the priority protections and lucian the secondary incase something goes awry, and if lucian died too head to mundo and help him.

Now if you're the main engage and have to leave your carries alone for abit it's mainly trying to get lucian in position and hoping he can figure out the rest.

Although it is unfortunate yall couldn't get it figured out before casso/vayne outscaled everyone
