Rengar Support

So Rengar was the first champ I mained. I only played unranked back then, but Rengar Jungle was my bread and butter. I know my mechanics and I would say I'm pretty solid with him.

Then I moved to primarily top and mid.

Now as I get ready for the season (I'd like to get into ranked) I only have a few support champs, and since bot Lane is my last choice, is like to consider reducing some of my current pool as support if necessary, in case in left with support for some reason I would rather have options to not screw my team over.

I'm thinking need to prioritize CDR and health/tank stats with maybe some movement or cc effects. Obviously starting with the standard support goldshare items and rushing a sight stone with red trinket.

The play style I'm thinking is controlling the lane through vision (sweep up enemy wards plus coverage warding with situational ult usage ). Using his leap from the bushes to hit the back line of minions so that they are immediately out of his way and can't block the bola to lock down enemy champs. If the enemy has skillshots that either end on 1st target hit or do less damage to additional targets after first then possibly a phantom dancer for the move speed, atk speed and ability to cross back through the minion line for that protection. Tank to survive that engage with empowered roar and heal for some hard baits or clutch escapes.

His ult can be used to engage in lane if the enemy is pushed, or can be used defensively to go intercept a likely incoming enemy gank.

Would like some feedback or recommendations on item builds or play style if anyone has tried this before.

I guess I'm not understanding why rapid fire slows and roots aren't beneficial to your adc.

Also, I did say vision control... So if a gank is coming you warn the ADC back, and ult towards the incoming gank or out (since your ult gives you enhanced awareness to know what's in the area)

0 peel? A CC that is low CD, can be cast twice BC of how Ferocity works, 1 slows, 1 roots. Can also peel by tanking right in the enemy's face and saying gtfo

Rengar isn't really known for Peel/CC and he really isn't a tank. Then again, I've turned Evelynn into a tank/bruiser, so it might be able to work. It's more of a matter of how well it works.

Natuarlly you'll start Relic Shield, 3 pots and Yellow. You should try to hold out to the 1600 mark (boots and BFS for the ADC) before making a back. Grab up Ionian Boots for a quick 10% CDR and the Sightstone. You can swap to red here if you think you'll actually use it. Otherwise keep the yellow so you can place more wards after you run out of charges on your Sightstone. You'll both be squishy, so you really shouldn't push the lane without the river warded (and your tri-bush if you're on the Blue Side).

I'd suggest Equinox over Face for slot efficiency on your next back. With how Rengar's Necklace works, you probably should pick up Locket of the Iron Solari as your third or fourth item. Legion has an 1100 range MR boost and will count as an assist/takedown simply for showing up. It will also pick up 10% CDR.

Three items with a Rengar that does only base damage stats (but 900 more health, 35 MR and 20% CDR).

I would probably continue tank/bruiser with Cleaver, Mallet and Plate. That adds 95 AD, 20% CDR, 1450 health and 50 Armor. You'll be tough to kill and would be the initiator of the team fights. At lower levels, people won't realize you're a tank and will focus you instead of your carries. In some cases you'll literally be the only death in an Ace (happened with me as Evelynn many a time).

Anyways, that would be a genuine Support build. As Korillo stated, you'll be a low damage annoyance, but you'll still have enough damage to kill their glass cannon carries if they outright ignore you.

I've played it, it's really just a kill lane. If you get an early kill the lane is pretty over though, they can't farm unless the creeps reach the turret. Mostly had success playing it with Kalista since her ult is nice for him to do what he does. Still wouldn't say it's a great pick though.

Thank you to those of you who offered advice on the direction to take with this, it's much appreciated. I will be updating this with reviews and changes. And if anyone wants to add more, please do!

Ya 0 peel, you'd be a very all in bot lane which makes it easy to gank and counter-gank, you are essentially useless early game, and you have low income so late game you'll just be a low damage annoyance.

Idk I see 0 positives to a rengar support.

Terrible idea. 0 peel nothing to offer your adc
