There's a tact to metabreaking

Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact same fucking thing over and over again, expecting... shit to change. That is crazy; but the first time somebody told me that...I dunno, I thought they were bullshitting me, so boom - I shot him.

Metagaming is fun and all, and it should be allowed as long as you do your part and communicate as a team, but there is a time and place to give up a specific strat.

Gonna be honest here, originally I supported the Nunu guy but if your strategy isn't working... at some point you need to be the one to adapt rather than expect four people to bend over and use a strategy that requires twice the effort for the same amount of gain.

You're giving the rest of the metabreakers a bad name. If you insist on your strategy because it makes you comfortable, then why is it so hard to compromise? Go 50/50, break it even between you and the ADC who has to do the most work to adjust. One game in bot, go Nunu, the next you try a traditional support. Or in general, really, for other metabreakers who insist on doing it 24/7.

If they have to adjust to your strategy, then you need to do the same as well.

Give and take.

50/50

.

Yeah I know it's surprising that me of all people is saying this, but I took a step back and pondered it for a bit. Sometimes you have to admit that you're being a bit of an asshole and try to find a middle-ground with other people.

There's breaking the meta and there's "breaking the meta."

Breaking the Meta This requires you to actually understand the meta beyond just what champs are popular right now. You need to know why they are picks, what they are picked into, and how what you're doing undermines that in a way favorable to your team.

"Breaking the Meta" This is just a euphemism for troll-picking and use bad strats on purpose. This is the stuff that SolWolf made a huge YouTube channel doing, despite how toxic it is to the rest of his team, but Riot won't punish it because they don't want to "enforce the meta" despite all their balance changes every season doing exactly that.

If you are doing the first thing, just make sure it plays well with the normal stuff the rest of your team is doing. If you are doing the second thing, please delete your account and uninstall ASAP.

Yeah.

Basically.

Yeah, much better way of putting it than I.

I just won a game supporting an Urgot player. I don't think he was amazing or anything, but he did well enough to get ahead and not feed. People consider him one of the worst champs in the league, but you can still make him work if you don't play stupidly (at least until very high ranked).

Playing Urgot alone is considered metabreaking by some people's standards :3

Certainly against mine, but he went into an acceptable role and played his best without doing trolly nonsense. I can work with that.

Not sure why this post has three downvotes so far, it's completely logical. If whatever you're doing to break the meta doesn't seem to be working, figure out something else - and if you are going to be breaking the meta, you don't need to be doing it every match, just every so-often.

Although, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised people hate completely rational things in League of Legends. Actually, that seems to be a theme, now that I think of it...

It's a controversial subject, I'm not very popular outside of M&G (I'm not popular there either, but people are chill) and admittedly I feel like I come across as an asshole at times. Whether I get upvoted or not doesn't really matter, it's whether or not people get something out of it.

And it's not just logical, it's empathetic. Yeah, it doesn't feel good to be punished for meta-breaking or reported or flamed at, but it doesn't feel good to be ignored by a teammate doing a strategy you're unfamiliar with especially in ranked play. Sure, it can throw the enemy off too, but it's completely contexual. If you want to have it your way, occasionally you need to have it their way.

Why is it hard for people to find a middleground here? There's lots of discourse about it going either way ("never break the meta!" or "meta sheep are oppressing!") but seriously, there can be a balance.

dont do it

The tact swings both ways, it doesn't just apply to the metabreaker.

I'm going to assume by "don't do it," you actually meant "don't be a dick" because that's the bottom line of my post and makes you look a little more favorable.
