Dynamic Queue and the Future of Ranked
Tl;DR Summary: You should be mad that Riot took away solo queue, but the proper answer is having both solo queue and dynamic queue with no forced interaction between solos and premades to avoid hurting either solos or those who enjoy dynamic, not killing dynamic queue altogether.
As a person who has played in both the solo queue and dynamic queue system, I can objectively say that both systems had their pros and cons, and I think any reasonable individual who hasn't suffered immensely from the changes could agree as well. I will not lie and say that Riot always knows best, they are human and they make mistakes and they suffer from the same things that we do, like pride and vanity, and I am of the belief that removing solo queue was not the proper solution.
However, I am also of the belief that people who want a total reversion back to the solo queue system are equally narrow-minded on the matter of how the best ranked system for league should be.
The community backlash against dynamic queue is well deserved, but not the aspects that can be fixed, namely how its interaction with the new champion select affects queue times, or how premade teams are more favored to win in ranked. The removal of solo queue is the true issue that Riot should be reprimanded for, because by removing solo queue they hurt people who had played in the system for years and who had come to have faith in what I will call their ideal of 'ranked integrity.'
The removal of solo queue would be as disrespectful to the playerbase as if Riot were to change Summoner's Rift permanently to a 4v4 mode, as their solution to the problem of the support role by eliminating the support role entirely.
The new Dynamic Queue should have had a means by which solo players could enjoy their solo playstyle, and continue to play against other lone wolves, and the new dynamic queue would instead allow those who enjoyed duo'ing and/or team ranked to be able to play with and against other premades without interfering with solo players.
In other words, solos against solos, duos and trios against duos and trios, and 5s vs 5s, at no point should solos and premades interact (this has been an issue surrounding duo queue for years in ranked solo queue).
If it would have taken longer to implement this solution, then Riot should have simply waited, and rolled out the champion select system by itself while working on dynamic queue, so as not to alienate the solo player base.
Now, by no means do I believe the solution is to axe Dynamic Queue.
Just as Riot has alienated solo players with the removal of solo queue, Riot has also given love to a demographic of players who have been alienated by Riot for years: the players who wish to play ranked together, but either could not maintain a consistent 5v5 ranked team or would be forced to split their group into duos and solos because of the restrictive nature of the solo queue system. These players matter, just as the solo queue players matter, and demanding a reversion to solo queue without something for the new dynamic players is as big a mistake Riot could make as they did with solo queues removal.
I am of the belief that the major problem of Dynamic Queue is that it didn't have enough time put into it, it gave something one set of players wanted while completely and blatantly disrespecting the wishes and desires of another set of players. It isn't something like a balance change to Yasuo's numbers for or against those who play him, which can be easily adjusted and readjusted, this is as significant a change as when Mordekaiser was turned into a melee carry for the bot lane in the juggernaut rework (insert Malicious Metal quip here).
I believe that dynamic queue as it was first introduced was majorly flawed, because Riot did not give enough time into developing the system, accounting for the desires of both solo queue players and the new audience of dynamic queue players, and finding the solution that would appease the vast majority. So for those who have spammed thread after thread, post after post about how much you hate how things are in relation to Dynamic Queue, you need to ask that Riot give you a solo path within dynamic queue, not to 'kill' dynamic queue without any regard to those who the system has now enabled.
On another note, in regards to the 'ranked integrity' that I mention, do not judge dynamic queue ranked integrity by the standards of solo queue ranked, yes: I understand that part of the issue is that you don't have a solo queue within which to earn your rank, but you cannot dismiss the people who earn their rank in dynamic queue as 'boosted kids.' You hurt your own arguments for changes to dynamic queue when you hold a dismissive attitude to the new blood that are thriving in a system that was obviously meant for them, even if the same system is hurting you.
While they like the system, they didn't make it, so taking your frustration out on them does no one any favors.
Yes, they would likely not thrive in a solo queue ranked system like they do in the new system, but this is a problem of there not being multiple ranked queues meant to maintain ranked integrity as a whole.
Finally, in regards to actual boosting, this can be partially solved through stricter restrictions on rank variance within a premade, but boosting will always exist as long as two things exist: smurfs, and people who do not care for ranked integrity and who will cheat - either directly or indirectly - to get their way.
Edit: Not even five minutes on the forums and I've been downvoted without explanation. Nice...
