Aatrox needs to be added to the rework list.
Hello everyone I know there have been several posts on this in the past but I feel none of them have phased anyone at riot to make an effort to put Aatrox toward a rework or buff phase. Yes, a few months ago a feedback page was created to guage the interest on the feedback for this champion for a potential rework. It was quite obvious if you yourself looked at that page at the overwhelming negative feedback on his kit, the need for a rework or buffs and overall some more depth for his lore. I used to be an aatrox main, he is among my top 3 mastery champions at 107k points so far but I cannot seem to pull out the same wins I used to after the newer champions came out one after the other especially after he was nerfed extensively. I use fervor of battle because anything else seems to reduce his damage significantly since he is very basic attack oriented (given his life steal mechanic which makes him unique) and has a hard time competing with the tank champions. I favored him top lane just because that was his signature role but he just can't compete there with the tank meta out and he needs heavy life steal and attack speed items to be viable for a short period.** Yes,** you can play him jungle but it is still not very useful because his kit offers really nothing but his knock up in team fights. But what I notice is even upon snowballing there is no rewarding spike like there is with other champions who slaughter everyone once they are fed. He may get more items which allows high sustain and attack speed but he is so squishy that he gets bursted without staying on champions very well. But if he gets behind he remains completely useless for the entire game with no hope of catching up. If he needs to auto attack people to death he has to be able to stay on people. Tryndamere who is the other auto attack oriented champion has ways of staying on champions very well with his kit while dealing crippling damage. Yes, Aatrox has a slow (that has a very narrow and awkward cone range that is sometimes hard to land that doesn't even last that long nor deal any significant damage), but it scales with ap. Now when is Aatrox going to build ap when he is spending most of the game trying to build his life steal and attack speed hoping he will later get enough gold for some tanky items? His ultimate splash damage also uses ap, seriously what was the point of this if there are limited opportunities to boost that to help him fight effectively. I even played ap aatrox and it lost the lifesteal side of his overall offensive capabilities so you were left spamming your e skill shots and hoping to land your jump in combination with your ult you can splash on them. The hybrid build I was trying didn't quite make sense and I yet again got bursted as usual before I could life steal my health back. Keep in mind this is all still ticking at your health every time you use the abilities. With an increase in champions that are highly mobile it does not help that his Q gets canceled by just about everything. His Q gets canceled but almost anything without giving any compensation which makes his mobility hard to use. The buffer in Q time gives just enough time for any of the very quick champions to keep you down before you even transport yourself. It also has a long cool down and its not really the first thing most people max so you're stuck with a lack of mobility. And once you lose the blood well (which is his passive that gives him the ability to revive and is the basis of how much bonus attack speed he gets) everyone is ready to jump on you upon revival, on top of that you've lost just about all of the attack speed that allowed you to duel since your entire blood well was just sucked up to revive yourself. His abilities also all use health just as it does for Dr. Mundo, I understand this being Aatrox uses lifesteal within his w but Dr. Mundo in comparison regenerates his health back pretty quickly whereas the life steal on Aatrox w is an optional toggle and it requires better attack speed to land the third life steal hit enough times to get health back before it gets bursted again. I enjoyed the champion concept a whole lot I love the life steal mechanic but he needs major tuning to stay relevant in the meta of tanks and burst assassins. I feel he is a champion that should be feared just by looking at his lore and overall aesthetics and I'm sure you see it too but no one fears Aatrox. Also I've noticed recently many have disliked having him on their team because of his low win rate. I sometimes picked Aatrox top and people would already be expecting me to fail the lane and I even had someone on my team banning Aatrox when I had it locked in as my intent pick and when I asked why they went saying "I want to win". I hope for the revival of this champion in the near future and to perhaps get feedback on this post and get the attention of any riot staff just as someone who has played this champion enough.
