Shaco Crit or On-hit?

I started playing Shaco recently and fell in love with this champ. Mental outplays are just something. I seriously consider to keep Thresh aside and start playing Shaco mainly. So i am not experienced in neither Shaco, nor LOL (3 months). From my impression, crit build deals impressively more damage, but people who main him (White Crow, Shaclone) do not use it, and I wonder why. I just also wonder about the gameplay differences between crit build and on-hit build and impact of each on game. Also bear in mind that I am low elo (even my teammates don't know Shaco and go all in to save my clone XD) Thanks!

do NOT play shaco on-hit unless you plan building tanky on him as well otherwise crit build is flat out better.

Bruiser/Fighter Shaco is strong because you can main a high damage potential while not being super squishy, while Critco is a lot more cheesy and easier to shut down in mid-late. As a Shaco, you're likely to get invaded. Hard. People don't like Shaco, and will try really hard to shut you down before you can become useful.

The most important part here is survival capability while maintaining decently high damage output. You want to kill them, without them killing you. Fighter Shaco usually has enough health and resists to get out of dodge if you mess up. Critco, not so much. You have a bunch of damage as Critco, but you're made of glass and you die fast.

One of the biggest differences, is that Critco falls off when compared to fighter Shaco. You'll die more than a fighter Shaco (unless you get fed a ton) and you will also be playing much more riskily than a fighter Shaco.

PS: Tank Shaco is also a thing and it works pretty well.

Also i've seen somewhere ppl say smth about 90% crit and a bit from runes which gives 100% due to rounding. How does Crit % rounding work?

Watch Shaclone for jungle, Pink Ward for ap top lane.

....

If you play Shaco on hit while still being squishy, you are going to have a bad time. Shaco, when squishy, relies on instabursting his victim then ulting for survivability so he can wait for Q cooldown. On hit is a damage over time build, which you never want as a squishy melee champion.

item 3158 item 3285 item 3100 item 3135 item 3089 item 3165 is a pretty stellar build. its a shame you cant get 1000AP with 40% CDR, unlike AD where you can get 500AD, 100% crit, and 40% CDR.
