I hate when boards pulls out made up numbers to exaggerate their point.
Right now there's a post on the front page exclaiming "On PBE right now a full Ornn combo deals 73% max hp damage." Click on that post, and there's no math, no explanation, no comparisons, just "lul Riot whats wrong with you."
The highest rated comment to that post is "At level 18. At level 6 its "only" 53%. Not including his flat numbers from Q E R. Big lols." Again, no actual math, no providing stats or actual skill numbers, just a thrown out number that people somehow accept as fact.
Is this damage against another tank? A bruiser? A squishy? What level are they in comparison to Ornn? For that matter, what level is Ornn? What's his build? Is this the damage before or after resistances?
Just where on earth do these magic numbers come from? How did they arrive there?
Take for example that magical "53% hp damage at level 6, without taking into account the damage from Ornn's Q, E, or R."
On PBE right now, the only damage increase Ornn has is to his Brittle passive, going from (live) [7% +.3% per level] to [10% + .5% per level].
On live, Ornn's W deals 12/13/14/15/16% maximum health, so with 3 points it will deal 14% of a target's max health.
At level 6, Ornn's new brittle passive will deal 10% + (0.5)(6) = 13% max health. Combined, that's 27% max health, BEFORE resistances.
Assuming his opponent is melee, at level 6, they will have 37 magic resist. 37 magic resist means they will take only (100)/(100 + 37) = 73% actual magic damage, or 27% magic damage reduction.
Thus. 27 * (0.73) means at level 6, Ornn's W, combined with Brittle will deal only 19.7% of a targets's max health, a far cry from that magical 53%.
