Dear Na Boards Dear Riot,

First off all sry for my bad English im a german guy and my english suck and i know that ^^. Now to my Point: Im a Garen Otp that what means i have more than 5000 games with him and at all 2.7 million Mastery Points (at 4 Accounts). And at the moment Garen feels pretty weak. He is easy to kite and u need to buy Damage Items like Black Cleaver, Youmus Ghostblade or Frozen Mallet (yes i wrote frozen mallet ^^) to be at ur target. But if u buy that offensive ull get punished cauz u got no tenacity on ur W (good old Times) and the Cooldown of ur W is incredible high 24 Sec at lvl 1 is rly high. And the Silence Duration of ur Q is in comparison to other guys with silence rly low (Cho gath, Malzahar). Yes i know that it just not many champs which get a silence but the silence make Garen unique; He is the only Champ who got a silence u cant flash.Nevertheless i hope u get my Point and dont misunderstand me i love this villain mechanic (a bit to random but its okay) and the E Damage if u hit all E-ticks (380% Ad-Scaling is insanely high) is awesome. But he is a a Kite Victim (in Germany we say Kite-Opfer. i hope u understand what im talking about) if i wanna fight a azir with rylais i cant cauz he slow me 24/7 and if i flash on his face he press R dash away from me and kill me. Nevertheless have a nice day

yes, hes actually on the weak side right now.

part of it has to do with the repeated swifties nerfs combined with rylais being on too many ap scaling champions, so he easily gets shut down by permaslows that are just all over the game right now, just like other melee champs that are low on mobility. nasus isnt doing so hot either, and theyre already looking into mundo buffs on the pbe.

and its also partially due to the fact that his rework nerfed his early game to give him a stronger lategame since he fell off way too hard in the past. they made his lategame scale better with defenses. but then riot to proceeded to almost entirely remove the defensive mastery tree, and nerfed a whole bunch of defensive items over the course of the season and preseason, which hurt his lategame effectiveness.

right now, his spin deals less damage than auto attacking at early levels. but he doesnt get compensated enough by mid and lategame for his weak erarly game. the most optimal way to play him is to go into cunning for stormraiders or thunderlord and the rest in ferocity for all the damage amp masteries, while maxing his q in lane.

Last 4 times I saw Garen he fckd us all single handedly. His ult deals exactly 3 785 549 points of true damage and his resistances are around 500 with 10.000 hit points.

Also he is good for new players to learn how to play this game, so I think no change is needed.

Garen actually isn't that weak. It's fairly balanced when it comes to the Juggernaut champions. He isn't meant to be an AD high burst type of champion, he prioritizes tank items but gives up CC/Utility to output some damage. Hence juggernaut.

Building BC, Youmus, and FM without tank items is a terrible idea. He strives off of having Warmogs, Spirit Visage, and Sunfire with either Ninja Tabi, Merc Treads, or Swifties. He's not meant to be pure damage, and that's probably why you're having an issue with him.

Also, champions like Azir and other high mobile champions are meant to soft counter melee champions. Being ranged will always mean you have an advantage over melee, but you can still easily out play them. Especially as Garen.

Keep in mind Garen is still supposed to be kited. That's going to come naturally. But the great thing about Garen is he's hard to shake off with his charge, silence, and ult as well. So you're supposed to build tanky to chase down targets or to dive right into the middle of a team fight and displace them by becoming an unkillable threat. If you're only building damage items then you're going to struggle and get beat often. Remember to always balance tanky items with a few damage items!

Also, his W at a high CD is appropriate for lvl 1. Especially since it's a pretty good ability for early laning and harrassing. Also his silence is appropriate considering it's an on-hit affect. Malzahar and Cho aren't comparable to Garen's because they have to aim their silences, whereas Garen simply needs to AA you after using the ability.

He's actually a really good champion and fairly balanced at this point. Has clear weaknesses and strengths, and is very friendly to newer players, yet rewarding for veterans.

He definitely doesn't need any buffs trust me :P You probably don't remember the terror he was when his juggernaut update first came out. He's finally evened out so I hope Riot doesn't touch him for now haha.

my last garen game i was vs Renekton top with a Shyvana jungle who had a Soraka support so none of them had good cc to really stop me. my kda went 8-4-7 build was item 3071 item 3742 item 3142 item 3155 item 3065 item 1001 if game went longer i would of finished into item 3156 and most likely item 3009 boots considering the only ad threat to me was Kalista . i think garen in the right match up/ team comp is a good durable fighter that provides good burst with his ult. another build i have used that i found to be strong is item 3071 item 3812 item 3147 item 3053 item 3742 item 3111

i would be happy if they changed his Q into a small gap closer instead of a charge at enemy ability. like make him run slightly and then have a small jump like he is slamming his sword through the skull with that lil bit of a gap closer it might give him some different kind of out play potential and have a different feel then some of the other juggernauts like darius

I dont think Garen is weak at all....in fact ive even made posts that i think he is too OP. I only started playing him about 3 and half weeks ago and i already have him at level 7 mastery and mastery point wise he is my 3rd highest with far less games played than other champs. S games with him is so easy......i have about 10 or 12 gone to waste since i hit level 7 with no level 8 available.

I also get frozen mallet some times.........I even get phantom Dancer too. A lot of people underestimate the damage that comes out from your E while its critting. And if your team has other tanks then you have the luxery to not have to build full tanky and u can even get infinity edge. Almost certain death for most mids, supports and adc's.
