Should zeal items have unique passives?

Title. While i disagree with the general circle jerk in these forums and people are exaggerating waaay too much, i would agree that ad itemization is too good.

I think the main offender is the RFC+statik combo, but also zeal items in general.

I remember when the marksman patch was released zeal items were meant to fill niche roles, PD for dueling, statik for burst, RFC for poke and runnas for teamfighting and on hit.

However since they are not unique, you can get away with buying cheap, efficent items to fill all your needs, with no real drawbacks even without investing in expensive AD focused items.

Making the passives unique would make people choose their strength, playing xayah and going for burst? Pick SS, playing cait and want poke? Rfc. And so on...

This thread got a bit longer than i intended, but i tried getting the idea accross. I'd really like to hear opinions on this, and i think that this is a good place to start with AD itemization.

That is one idea. The only issue with it is, how do you prioritize? First Zeal item bought?

I am personally more of the opinion that it would be simpler to increase complete Zeal upgrades' cost to something like 2900-3000 gold. Basically, taking away the cheapness of a double Zeal build that makes ADC's IE+2 Zeal Upgrades build the currently least expensive three item spike.

what if phantom dancer was made to be melee only? the passive damage reduction imo is too good for adc's anyways

I think the combos between different zeal items leave nice itemization paths.

I just think the case is Statikk and RFC being too strong as a result of overbuffing them because hurricane was so dominant before

Zeals already have unique passives. The only interaction is Shiv + RFC.

Limiting in terms of purchasing additional attack speed options.

i always thought you were meant to choose between either rfc and ss. Stacking them just feels stupid even though i like the idea of specializing into burst and range. I just believe that the dps-class shouldn´t have access to long range burst.
