Why SoloQ is fair regardless of afks and trolls

There have been so many posts about how unfair Solo Q is, how many trolls and afks there are, etc etc. In reality however, as long as you are not the one who is afk / trolling, you will always have the odds in your favor. As long as you are playing right, your team has 4 other spots for potential trolls, while the enemy team has 5 open spots for such a player. Sure, some will get 5 games in a row with a troll on their team, but at the same time another player will play against a team with a troll 5 times.

I do agree that its tedious to play promo games and lose them and try again, for many many times, and I would prefer a system where you automatically ascend to the next level at say 150LP or so, but at the same time I don't think the current system is particularly flawed.

Look at the creme de la creme of players. They face the same problem everyone else does, the difference is, they play enough games that on average the odds that are in your favor will pay off. If you only play a couple ranked games per week, you will probably not notice this, but then you probably shouldn't play ranked to begin with since you won't get very far with that number of games, and you should stick with normals instead. If you play enough, you will see that for every 9 games with a troll in either team, 4 times it will be on yours, while 5 times it will be on the other team.

I totally disagree. This game should base individual rank on individual performance.

When people talk about "fair" they are not actually interested in statistics. They just want to win games and climb the ladder, so when they don't climb the system must have an issue.

It's definitely not that they have reached as far as they can climb at that time...

i would just like to state that it is completely random... rewind a few weeks, Man i was getting trolls every other game... Due to this i in a bad place, Nearly turned troll myself. so i took a break from ranked for a lil bit Entered this amazing chat room platinum vs silvers. Played against some plats+. saw some flaws, fixed some flawed. saw a video one of them famous you tubers put out about practicing csing, Improved on my csing.

Jumped into ranked, and played for days (not straight, but enough games aha), and then i get it, the troll. after 10+ games, i got 1 troll... okay, not so bad...continued playing games, no troll yet ^_^

if you're seeing an increase in trolls in your games, just take a break from ranked... It will do more good than continuing to play with these trolls. they will only turn you into a toxic player out of spite. Chilling in normals gives a whole new perspective, and lets you remember, its just a game. why continue playing ranked if you arent having fun due to trolls? go play some normals ^_^ chill out, calm your blood cells for a few days.

and then return to the ranked battlefield. Better, and stronger than ever before.

You just got lucky. I could say the same about continuing to play despite trolls. The effect would be identical. You used a singular case as an argument, but that's not how it goes with RNG and pseudo-matchmaking.

Ah, yes. Probability.

You see, probability allows for people to be matched unfairly and allows them to play in games where enemy team will never have an AFK and/or feeder and/or completely unskilled individual.

Only this season I can say that 80% of AFKs and feeders were on my team. Even so, I could count the number of AFKs enemy teams had on the fingers of one hand.

Thats complete and utter b.s. and you know it. And even if it were true, it will eventually even out in your favor. Nature doesnt work like you think. Over a long enough period of time you will always climb the ladder if you deserve to climb, and the enemy team will always have more afks and trolls than you.

Yes, theory of probability. You should take a closer look at it...

If it was bullshit, being high ELO would mean something in this game. But it does not.

You see, climbing when if deserve it and having less AFKs/feeders than the other team is true, but for the community as a whole, not individual players.
