Provoking and verbally taunting opponents? Yes or No?

Fegone··7 votes·4,719 views

OK, I want to get the opinion of a few others and what they thing about this: I usually play mid lane, and when i see my lane opponent, I start to taunt him. First with ingame emotes etc, but whenever I see an opportunity, I use ALL chat to taunt him even more. Nothing like verbally abusing or so, let me give some examples:

  1. He dives me and almost kills me, I get away with 10hp -> "Nice try, try harder" or "Not even close"

  2. I kill him and stand on his body, showing Mastery emote and/or laughing

  3. I kill him -> "Rekt"

  4. He loses a 1v1 -> "L2P" or "Hahahahahahaha"

  5. When they answer back in ALL chat in a very rude way -> "Lololol y u so mad" or "Lol he so salty. L2P"

just simple things that I hope enrage him to the point where he starts to play even more reckless and makes more mistakes. It works so many times, especially if they answer back in ALL chat. You can tell when it works, because usually the responses aren't very nice and usually filled with cuss words or so (which I never use). But then I know he's mad

What do you think about trying to tilt the lane opponent to the point where they get frustrated with their own mistakes on top of being taunted by it, resulting in even more mistakes? Yay or Nay?

Where would you draw the line of doing it to gain an advantage, vs. committing an offense and getting reported yourself?

I'm going to be blunt. You are one of the worst kinds of players on LoL, and I think when you act like this you make the LoL community worse, as well as the experience.

Fegone5 votes

It's all about winning, and if someone doesn't have a thick skin and easily gets tilted, I'm sorry but I'm going to abuse that fact.

Lazypeon10012 votes

You can win without being a dick. At the end of the day, the game is meant to be fun for everyone. I understand that behind my computer screen, there are nine other people all playing to have fun and or better themselves.

I don't want you to apologize. I know you're not sorry for it. I simply wish you'd stop, because you ARE one of the worst kinds of LoL players. Your actions are very often considered toxic by the community for good reason. It's not about having thick or thin skin. It's about not wanting to be treated like garbage.

Focus on your own skills before insulting others in game. Lolking shows whatever you've been doing lately hasn't been working out for you.

Fegone2 votes

Yes I can, but if I can get an advantage like that I'd be stupid not to take it. Why would I apologize for something that's not only legal in the game, but also not something I'm sorry about? My actions are not toxic, they are provocative, but so is a taunt. And they are implemented in the game for a reason. Say thanks to Riot if you're offended by it, and I'm sorry for you if you're that easily tilted.

I'm not treating anyone like garbage. I'm not ever saying they are bad, or terrible, or anything like that. If you're really that easily tilted, good luck in RL my friend.

BluePolarizer2 votes

It's clearly not working for you right now, since Peon is a 3 season plat while I don't even see a ranked badge for you.

Fegone1 votes

It's clearly working for me, but Peon also has put in 4000 hours or more into this game. Would be a shame if he didn't have a ranked badge....

Lazypeon1003 votes

It's clearly not lol. You have more losses than wins and your rating has dropped significantly from when you started.

There's no need to lie dude. You being an ass to people hasn't helped you. I hate having to rank shame, but come on. You cannot honestly sit there, barely squeaking by in silver 5, and saying purposefully pissing people off has been working for you win you don't even have a 50% win rate. That's absurd.

Fegone2 votes

It is. Who's to say my win rate wouldn't be 30% otherwise? Exactly.

And no, I'm not being an ass to people. I'm provocative. If you still haven't figured out the difference by now, then there's no hope left for you. Sorry mate.

Hyperiön1 votes

Being provocative is the same thing as being an ass. Oh, you keeping killing someone over in your lane, great, but don't go and be like, l2p noob. try harder next time. That is verbal abuse, and even if you were on my team doing that, you would still be getting reported not only from me, but from whoever else doesn't put up with shit like that.

There is a total difference from taunting, and being an ass. And you are simply just being an ass.

Fegone1 votes

See, and here is where it proves that you're just trying to be an "ass" yourself on the forum. You're trying to make it look like I call people 'noobs' by saying "l2p noob", which -if you read my comments- I particularly pointed out I would never call another player 'noob'. That would be degrading and unsportsmanlike.

But you don't care, you just want someone to bash here on the forum, so you lay words in my mouth which I never said. Who's the ass now?

If you want to play with the big boys, play like a big boy, or you make a fool out of yourself.

DeathBurst3 votes

No, no no. I posted another comment at the top-level saying I somewhat agree with your OP, but I definitely NOT agree with this comment. You can't put using an emote or some friendly banter after a fail from the enemy and actively "trying to tilt" someone to "get an advantage" in the same basket.

You can't put Riot implementing a /taunt command and your behavior on the same level. One is a joke and a way to give more personalities to a Champ, the other is a deliberate act trying to win the game. How can you compare them?

(And technically, saying "L2P" to someone IS saying they are bad.)

Fegone1 votes

I'm using what the game allows me to use. Nothing more. Saying its unsportsmanlike to spam my taunt emote just isn't justified. Otherwise there would be a limit put on it, like it is with pings.

If you think L2P is offensive, then please don't play online games. You won't survive with a skin this thin...

Lazypeon1002 votes

Riot has actually said in the past actions like that are considered unsoortsman like. Though to be fair, that was ages ago.

Fegone1 votes

No, they haven't. Riot has never made a statement like that. Maybe one person from Riot may have voiced his/her opinion, but clearly, as we all know, one person that's just working for Riot, does not represent the entire company. (Hint: SoloQ is coming back, later, I promise - as stated by 1 person working for Riot, and people took it as Riot's words. Clearly it was b.s.)

And there were postings from other Riot employees who posted something similar to what I said, trying to get a psychological advantage by taunting the enemy provoking mistakes out of their gameplay. I don't remember who it was, and it must also have been at least 1-2 years ago, but again: the opinion of 1 person at Riot, not Riot's opinion.

Lazypeon1002 votes

It matters on intent, but yeah, it is reportable and people have been punished for it (along with other things you have inclided in your OP actually.)

The summoners code even goes out of its way saying you shouldn't "enjoy yourself at someone else's expense." No matter how much you claim just being provocative isn't being a giant jerk to someone else doesn't make you right. "causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction, especially deliberately." That is literally the first definition for that word that comes up on google.

Fegone1 votes

OK, show me a punishment for it. If you claim there have been, you must have seen it, somewhere on the forum, somewhere on a video. Prove it. Everyone can make false claims, if you want to make your point, prove it. I highly doubt it..

Plus, there is a strong difference between something being reportable, and something being punishable. I can report you if I wanted, for insulting me on this forum. I can send in a ticket with text and screenshots to Riot and prove that your behavior is out of line, you insult me personally, just because you disagree on something with me. Is this not provocative you think? Don't your think people would be angered by being deliberately called bad names or associated with cuss words? Well, tell me, how is this ANY different from being provocative in game? How is this ANY different from what you claim is unsportsmanlike conduct?

If you would have called me those names in game, I would report you, and IF it would have made it to the tribunal, you would get punished for it, wouldn't you agree on that? Using the exact words you used, i.e. "you are an ass" plus using the F word, I think I would have a strong case. But because you do it on the forum, it's OK? It makes you a better person?

Hypocrisy in it's pure definition, RIGHT there!

Case from 2012

http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2795867&page=12#post31839662

Red post there also explains riot's view points on how they handle reports and bans.

http://www.lolnexus.com/forums/league-of-legends/general-discussions/84045-is-emote-spamming-reportable

2014, people asking about it and confirming it is reportable and people have been punished for it before.

http://www.nerfplz.com/2012/11/player-time-banned-for-spamming-emotes.html?m=1

Also, feel free to report me if you truly think I'm being hypocritical. I'm being hard on you because you've admitted to openly breaking the Summoner's Code and you're trying to defend your actions. I can find more links if you want as well. I literally just used google.

Just a quick note (edit real fast). Probably just going to stop responding to you here. I don't see much of a point to it since your stance will not obviously change nor will mine. In addition, since you brought it up in a few other posts, Tribunal no longer exists. Originally they were going to bring it back in some improved form, but it has been so long with no mention on it that it's likely not actually coming back.

Fegone1 votes

Link #1 goes to a post where none of the links directing to a tribunal work any more. Pretty sure he didn't get punished for just using /taunt and laughing, there must have been more to it. Especially since it was in times with an active tribunal, where people actually looked at this stuff. Nice try, Next.

Link #2: Omg, you're playing the ball directly in my hands with your links: "Because every game is unique, and played by different standards. How much fun would a rule be that says you can never say the F word in your matches?"

See, depending on the situation, even RIOT says you can even use the F word. It just depends on the context. So if I would join the game and start spamming "L2P" in ALL chat, yes, ofc that would be inappropriate. But as I've stated many times, I do these things as responses to mistakes the enemy makes, such as a failed tower dive or gank. In this case, the situation is appropriate and a reaction of that sort is justified. Thanks for bringing up this link, you're just demolishing your own case here... Next.

Link #3: Sooo you post a discussion that's not even on the official forum and try to use this to prove ... what exactly? Come on, now it's becoming almost laughable. People are having a discussion whether it's reportable or not. Some say yes, some say no. No statement from Riot at all in this thread. How is this supposed to help your case? Exactly, not at all. Again, nice try. Next!

Link #4: I don't even have to say what I thought at first, because someone on the thread already did it, right then and there: "Eh, I would rather wait with judging it after we have red post. There's always a handful more reports besides these in Tribunal."

No Redpost, Tribunal link is down, you can't tell me you believe this is really the only reason that person got punished. Maybe he had 100 previous reports for harassment, and these reports just finally brought the case up in tribunal. Like the person on OP already said: I'd rather see a red post first before I believe this, because there is obviously more to that. NEXT!

Soooooo that's it? You couldn't come up with a Single!! not 1 !!! valid example? Thought so. I'm not going to report you, since I don't personally feel offended by your choice of words (even though others might when someone calls them an asshole, but that just shows everyone your choice of words and what kind of player you most likely are in game if someone doesn't agree with you.)

I never broke the summoners code, this whole thread is an argument about it, and while you might believe so, I've clearly shown that it's not the case. IF ANYONE is breaking the summoner's code, it would be you. Just because you're not in game, doesn't mean you can run around calling people assholes. Don't be a jerk, remember? Or would you argue that your behavior in this thread is in total compliance with the Summoner's Code? .... Thought so...

Tribunal in its original version doesn't exist any more, that's correct. However, with tribunal I was merely referring to the process of reviewing reports, regardless of what entity that might be doing (human or computer).

Lazypeon1002 votes

As I said earlier, if you truly think I'm breaking the rules, report me.

Also, go reread that redpost. He specifically mentioned what the general rules of thumb are for punishment. Which was to not be a jerk, something you're clearly being if you are attempting to enrage people like you stated in your OP.

Fegone1 votes

That's your opinion. Not everyone's. Don't generalize. I play by the rules, deal with it.

DeathBurst4 votes

Learn to read.

  1. I never said that spamming your taunt was unsportsmanlike, I said "actively trying to tilt someone" was.
  2. I never said "L2P" was offensive. I said that it the same as "you're bad". If you need to learn (learn, not improve), it means you don't even know how to play at a basic level. And I said that because YOU said "I'm not ever saying they are bad, or terrible, or anything like that." Well, yes you do.

As a conclusion, you don't know how to read, but you need to defend yourself by attacking my supposed susceptibility... I wonder whose skin is really thin.

Fegone1 votes
  1. if someone starts tilting by being taunted over and over, and it's working, how is this unsportsmanlike? That just means that person's an easy target, but is that my problem? no.

  2. L2P is not the same as "you are bad". I'm giving someone advice by saying L2P. I'm not saying someone is bad. Learn to read my friend. Don't interpret things that aren't there. When you're in college and in your finals period, are you learning? Or are you improving? You're learning, but that doesn't mean you don't even understand the basic concepts of whatever your major is. Learning never ends. You're just being ignorant and you try to bad-mouth other people to justify your words, while in fact you're the one spreading toxicity, hoping no-one realizes what you do. That my friend is way more unsportsmanlike than saying "L2P".

DeathBurst2 votes

Such hypocrisy, it's almost artistic... "L2P" is "giving advice"? "Git gud" is giving advice too? While you're at it, why don't you say explicitly that taunting (you know, the thing you do to tilt people, like you said the sentence just before) is giving advice?

And if you cannot understand how taunting someone isn't sportsmanlike, I guess you need to read the definitions of sportsmanship and fair-play. Protip: it's not just respecting the rule.

Fegone1 votes

I've already pointed out the hypocrisy on your side, and it's well documented. You plead your case about abiding sportsmanlike behavior and "making this game enjoyable for everyone", but yet you cannot even respectfully disagree with someone that has a different opinion than you do. No, instead you start insulting them with profanity. I can only imagine how you behave on the fields of justice, if you show behavior like this already in just a forum thread. You're probably the typical example of a toxic player that just spreads bad vibes and toxicity all game long, and usually earns a few reports after the game. And for you to pledge sportsmanlike conduct? THAT's a prime example of hypocrisy, thank's for making this very easy for me.

Noobtip: Just because someone's in a lower rank than you, doesn't mean you can treat them as you wish and diminish their arguments by badmouthing and insulting them. Try it, you might actually like that for a change....

DeathBurst2 votes

Note how you didn't answered to any of my point, yet again? What was I saying about this not being a discussion already? And who started talking about rank?

Fegone1 votes

Lazypeon100 did.

You didn't state any non rhetorical questions, how's there the expectancy of an answer even relevant....

DeathBurst2 votes

My little glimmer of hope in all of that is that your posts still have negative votes. Try to justify your behavior all you want, obviously the people on these boards disagree. Which means that if you continue, and if the boards are somewhat representative of the in-game population, you'll get banned eventually. Not me, I was never punished, and I never intend to be. It's your right to not believe me, but the summoner icon I'm currently show-casing on the boards is the one awarded at the end of Season 5 to people who didn't receive any punishment for a set period of time.

But for the sake of English language, you should really check the definition of fair-play and sportsmanship. Being sportsmanlike is not just respecting the rule but doing anything you can to win. Being provocative, playing mind-games with the opponents, that's not fair-play. That's legal, that's allowed (to a certain extent), but that's definitely NOT fair-play. This is not my opinion, this is just the basic definition of the word.

Cheers, and I'm out of this discussion now. You can take that as me admitting defeat, if you really want to be this delusional, I don't care. But what I care about is that I don't have any more time to lose with you.

Fegone1 votes

The forum are nothing compared to ingame behavior. Everyone here is a white knight. Have the people proclaiming to follow the rules here probably had chat restrictions. Or worse. I've got the same icon you have so dont think you're anything special. Play by the rules, win by the rules. If you don't like it, don't hate the player, hate the game.

Lazypeon1004 votes

Taunts in game are very different than what you have described in the OP. The taunts in game are meant to add more character to the, well, characters. They can also be used for a bit of fun hut not much beyond that. Riot has stated before actively abusing in game systems to try and tilt / piss someone off can be considered toxic. Things like spamming that mastery over your head nay not always be bannable, but it does make you a giant jerk for anyone who has to play with you.

You are flat out wrong about your actions not being toxic. Your actions are not sportsmenlike. Please don't assume I'm offended by such things either. Do I find the mastery spam annoying? Absolutely. Am I going to let it effect my play and type a rant to my enemy? No. There's no point to it, especially not in game. In game, I know I won't be able to convince someone to change their actions, I have to focus on myself. And I kind of find people like you funny in game. Often all of that taunting ends up leading to players who do taunt to die. And it is always satisfying besting someone who was purposefully trying to piss others off.

Stick to yourself and improve. As I said before, what you're currently doing isn't working out for you. It's a game, have fun. You don't always have to win, because that's simply impossible. Maybe at very very high elo (like professionals) I could see wanting every edge you could get. But doing things like that there is one, unprofessional, and two, likely not going to work.

Anyway, glad to see you think I have trouble in life. I enjoyleague in my free time when I'm not working. I play to win, but I also remember that I'm playing to have fun and I know that nine other people in my games are all doing the same.

Fegone1 votes

Good for you that it's not working on you. That means one can't get the edge on you by trying to tilt you. Congrats. However there are enough players that it works on.

How would you know whether it works for me or not? Have you ever played with / against me? Don't think so.

Clearly you have enough time to accumulate 2k wins, so probably around 4k games. Must be nice to have so much free time.

Lazypeon1002 votes

Over the course of 5 years, yeah. And I know it doesn't work for you because I can see your wins to losses, and how you have been doing over the past several months.

Which is to say last I looked, your rating was falling back and you were only low silver.

Fegone1 votes

Low silver because I just ranked myself up there from Bronze 5. Slowly but steadily it is working. Good enough for me. As long as by the end of the season I'll be in high silver again like last season (or maybe even gold, who knows), I'll be happy.

Lazypeon1002 votes

You started high silver, went to bronze, got back to silver, rating went down again, and then back up and is still lower than when you started. I'm not sure how you call that working but alright man lol.

MrPharmD2 votes

Just a quick question, have you ever played sports (real ones, not soccer for example) on a high school or college level?

Lazypeon1001 votes

Soccer isn't a sport now? Welp.

In that case, no. Older brother played ice hockey his whole life all the say up to college as a goalie.

MrPharmD2 votes

Na, soccer can be a sport. I just love picking on soccer players lol. I never played, so I'm not sure what the culture is. I just hate how if you touch someone they fall down crying.

Anyway, the point wasn't about soccer specifically. The point was that in every single sport I played in high school, and the one I played in college, trash talking was a very fun part of the game. If you threw the receiver away and tackled the running back for a loss, you let him know it. Basically the equivalent of saying, "rekt" in League. If you were covering a wide receiver and he dropped the ball, you would say, "nice hands, pam." So when you say that OP is "one of the worst kinds of players" for simply trash talking, I can tell that you haven't done too much competitive activity, sports in this example.

OP said nothing "toxic" in these examples. There does come a point when people have to realize they are being far too sensitive. So when there are players flaming random people for no reason, telling you to kill yourself, rage quitting, and most importantly trolling, and you say OP is "one of the worst kinds of players", I seriously have no idea what you're talking about.

And don't get me wrong, both extremes exist. But there is a HUGE difference between crazy right people saying, "ur 2 sensitive ermehgerd political correctness" to everything somebody says, and crazy left people saying, "omg you can't say "Oakland face with an LA booty" because you're appropriating black culture." Both are wrong. Trash talking is absolutely NOTHING to be overly sensitive about. This community is the only one that I have seen it in. I bowled for a season in high school because a football teammate had to be suspended from a sport for one season (he was a dipshit and got caught drinking). So we all did bowling. There was literally more trash talking and less overly sensitive people on fucking bowling teams that there are in this community. Bowling dude.

I mean, fuck. Your brother played hockey. Did you run out onto the ice every time somebody start fighting just to try and be a social justice warrior??

Lazypeon1001 votes

Nope. I played soccer up to and throughout highschool. Tbh, my experience has been very different than what you've dtated. The people who openly trashtalked got warnings and shit. Granted, that's likely just because it was highscho but whatever. The people on the hockey teams that openly trash talked other teams to their face were often disliked because they were assholes. Wanna trash talk someone on the other team? That's fine if you aren't doing it in their face and trying to start fights.

There's a line between messing around and being a dick. And the community has made it clear what that line is on league.

MrPharmD2 votes

And again, that's why I said not soccer lol. It typically is more of a panzy sport (in general). And again, in hockey they literally first fight each other. Fist fighting is fine but saying "rekt" after killing somebody is "one of the worst possible things you could ever do"? That doesn't make much sense to me to be honest.

Lazypeon1001 votes

Different games with different expectations. I don't have to like that they fight, that's part of the game. I wouldn't say take out fighting out of boxing as an extreme example.

The community as I said before gets to decide what is ajd isn't okay for league. This game has been notorious for years for having some of the most toxic players, and Riot has gone through excessive lengths to try and change that (look at the DQ nonsense as an example given their stated reasons for it.) The community in general doesn't want people trash talking in their games. It ruins the fun and detracts from the actual game play. And what I was saying earlier is that people on the hockey teams didn't even like people who trash talked.

If Riot's stated rules essentially boil down to "don't be a jerk and ruin the fun for others" and the community doesn't like trash talking, then trash talking really shouldn't be an acceptable behavior. I'm not overly thin skinned or anything like that, but I am rather intolerant of people being dicks to each other for no reason.

Edit: also, other than the silly injuries you see on TV, what about soccer is panzy exactly? I've met and played with people who don't exactly scream panzy to me through soccer.

MrPharmD2 votes

The fact that you, and others in the community, equate saying "rekt" after getting a kill to being a dick is the problem. Way to extreme. Extremist don't get anything accomplished. Not in League, and not in anything else. Riot has not gone through excessive lengths to try and fix it. All they have to do is be stricter on trolls. You would see the "toxicity" problem decrease dramatically. I played Call of Duty. I have not seen anyone get banned in it (not saying it doesn't happen, just I have no seen it). I just bought my first Halo when I bought an Xbox One this winter. My brother played with a bad connection and afk'd in 2 games and got hit with a temp ban afk penalty. My other friend killed some annoying guy on our team and got temp banned for trolling. The result? Call of Duty is filled with flaming 12 year olds. Halo is not. League will continue to have these toxic players as long as they allow this toxic gameplay. I mean, ffs, I submitted a support ticket WEEKS ago over a player afking by pink warding the jg camp and aa/reseting it. That player has had 0-0-0 level 1 games for MONTHS. Yet my ticket is closed without anything happening. The only thing they address is "omg he said bad word". And the simple fact is that is why this community will never not be toxic. They are too worried about social justice warrioring people, saying that telling the enemy "rekt" is "one of the WORST possible things you can do". Like, da fuq?

Fegone1 votes

Oh you are 100% right, constantly staying within the political correctness and pretending to be the so called justice warriors, that won't get you anywhere. Quite the contrary, imo.

Thanks for pointing this out, and the comparison to CoD or Halo is on point if you ask me. Glad finally someone else speaks up to show Lazypeon100 he's not representing the "general opinion" and people do understand what this is really about. :)

MrPharmD2 votes

This has absolutely nothing to do with "political correctness". You shouldn't just throw around random buzzwords simply because Faux News has told you to do so. Also, peon IS representing the "general opinion" of the average League player. I'm simply telling him WHY that is the problem.

Lazypeon1001 votes

I think we'll just have to disagree. I don't think it's extreme at all to not want to put up with such nonsense if I just want play a game for fun in my free time. I shouldn't have people who try to ruin the fun for others just because it might give them a percieved advantage or because they find it fun.

The community has pretty much decided that's how they feel on the issue as well. If you want to trash talk in other sports and it's accepted, go for it. I can choose not to play those games just like I can choose to play LoL or not. I think over the years the LoL community has gotten better because we don't want to put up with people purposefully trying to ruin the fun for others. If you don't see that as being a dick, it's whatever man.

Fegone1 votes

I think we can agree to disagree. Progress right there. You're right, you don't have to put up with me. If I'm on your opposing team, you can afk. Or ragequit. Or mute me. Regardless of what you do, it surely won't bother me.

I don't think the community has gotten better over the years. At all. If you look around, in every other game there's a troll, an afk, or someone else somehow tilting. And that's just the fact I use to my advantage.

Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

DeathBurst1 votes

I played hand-ball in France at a National level, and my experience has been very different than what you've stated. Trash talking did happen a few times, but usually as discreetly as possible and never in front of the referee. Everyone knew that it was dirty play, and that the referee could sanction you if you pushed it too far. So for sure, sometimes you do what you gotta do to win, but nobody was hypocritical to the point of arguing that we were fair-play. And that's what OP is doing in most of this thread, trying to defend taunting as a fair-play behavior because it's technically allowed. Which shows that OP is definitely not a fair player, that he doesn't care about fair-play and just about winning. This is not completely bad in and of itself, but the hypocrisy is.

My very first post in this thread was saying that a bit of taunting could be fun, and that I wouldn't report someone for just a couple of taunts over the course of a whole game. I gave more details to explain my reasoning and my limits. To what OP replied by attacking me, saying I was twisting his words and trying to make him look bad... I was mostly agreeing with him in the beginning, but the rest of the thread has made it clear that OP, contrary to what he says in the first post, is not interested in what "the opinion of a few other is" and in "where they would draw the line".

MrPharmD2 votes

Oh, I am in no ways agreeing with the OP lol. In fact, most of his replies on here have me thinking he is an asshat anyway lol. I was merely pointing out, as you also kind of alluded to, OP's examples of trash talk in this post were no where near toxic at all. And for the peon guy to call him "one of the worst kinds of players" (on par with people telling you to kill yourself, racism, etc, and trolling) is completely absurd.

Also, I'm not sure what hand-ball is haha. But to your point about the referee being able to punish you if taking too far, they should. I agree with that. In my opinion, there is a HUGE difference between simple trash talk like OP's examples and being toxic about it. But, peon doesn't believe that for some reason. He thinks its perfectly fine to fist fight random strangers in a hockey game, but it's "the worst thing to say 'not even close' after escaping". I don't get it.

My point was that, even in sports, trash talking is usually frowned upon and kept discreet, so using example of trash-talking in sports isn't really convincing to defend it in LoL.

OP behavior is in a gray area, I'm not sure I would report it, it would probably depend on the specific game, but I wouldn't dismiss it so easily as "not toxic at all". It's certainly a bad behavior in my book, even if not report-worthy.

(And for the records, this is hand-ball: https://www.google.ch/search?q=hand-ball&client=firefox-b&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjG59eqyr7NAhUCthoKHQFjAH8Q_AUICCgB&biw=1432&bih=955 )

I'm not sure how it is in Europe, but trash talking is actually a great part of sports in America. In fact, when you watch football games, they often "mic up" someone that talks to the other team. It's fun. You knock someone out and you trash talk them. Then they get you the next play and give it back. (Here's a decent video from NFL network...they can't use the best stuff because they're the NFL network, though haha... http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/09000d5d82084d7e/Biggest-trash-talkers )

Lol, I now know why trash talking is frowned upon in hand ball xD xD

Yea, I might be an asshat at times. Not going to disagree. Not saying I'm always one. But as long as it's within the limits, everyone in one way or another is an asshat sometimes.

Peon apparently has a delusional view on toxicity. If he thinks what I'm doing is toxic, he is either oblivious of what people that are really toxic say in games, or he's just a troll himself.

Lol, have you played a real sport on a Highschool level? That's like asking:

Have you ever played League against real good people, such as Silver 1?

Just my opinion :P

But to answer your question, yes I have.
