Should Rito Introduce New Summoner Spells?
T4R, what would you think about the addition of new summoner spells? Would it be a good change, or a bad change?

I love the idea of more spells. It means more combinations for people to use.
Summoner spell usage is based on them filling a need that players have. What unfilled niche could a new Summoner spell fill?
Summoner throw.
Pretty sure Baron has that one covered.
Three of those are only usable in certain game modes, two of them unavailable until Poro King ever comes back and the other being Dominion, but I could see a use for something like 3 seconds of invisibility or something. Kind of want Clarity and Heal to be merged into one to make it a more efficient get.
Yeah when half the summoner spells aren't even used, no doubt the best solution is to make even more. Same mentality Riot had with champions, and now most of them will never see significant LCS play or be relevant in solo Q unless you master all their flaws when you could just pick a champ Riot likes and spend max 2-3 games with them and do well.
okay understand this. in every single game there are the "best champions" as a fan its easy for you to say we want some diversity but no matter what riot does there will always be a group of "best champions" that will be played until they are different "best champions" im sure if you were a professional player you would want to win playing the "best champions" help you have an easier time of winning so in their shoes you would spam the same champions aswell... or youre just plain stupid i like diversity too but in their shoes i would do the same
The problem is when you have ~120 champs the "best" champs add up to like 10% of the roster. If they had less champions, and the ones that did exist had more defined niches, there could be more "best" champions. When you have 25 burst mages a lot of them are going to suck by default simply because there's a mage that bursts that can do what they do better. If they stopped at say...5 burst mages, they could have given them better defined niches and they could have seen play. Good luck coming up with 25 different niches for one kind of mage though.
yes reducing the champion pool is the simple solution but the thing that league of legends has over other mobas is their champion personalities artwork and design but reducing the champion pool will heartbreak alot of players who fall in love with the character of a burst mage, their design and lore
maybe just 3sec silence :D
There was actually a spell called Stifle, back in alpha, that did just that. It was deemed way too oppressive (most champions got to do literally nothing for 3 whole seconds), and so got scrapped.
While there's definitely potential for new summoner spells, I'd rather see the current underused ones get improved, reworked or removed, as it would then give a good indication as to what niches would then need filling, if any. We already have a certain amount of clutter, what with spells like
and
competing for the same niche, or
filling a niche that should, by all respects, not exist, so it would be best to establish the purpose of each current spell more clearly before creating new ones.
The first thing they should do is remove Flash before adding any more.
It's incredibly hypocritical of them to keep saying "We want everything to have counterplay". Well, guess what counters Flash? Yep, another Flash.
I agree reworks are needed for the lesser used ones. I like the combining idea.
Some ideas that might not be too OP and add to strategies... -small wall like anivia's crystallize at low level -short knockback -short duration buff for attack speed/cooldown or something (maybe not?) -someone else mentioned a short stealth
There's not much room to add a lot more spells...they've got all the general bases covered in a way where nothing is directly competing already or too OP. I don't think they could ever add any cc.
