Eternals Will Negatively Impact Gameplay

The backlash continues and Riot seems to have not actually changed anything since this swollen tumorous inbred loot box of an achievement system was announced and think that providing a few free ones is going to fix the problem. Targon only knows why they think its a good idea but I'm going to guess it rhymes with ten cents and leave it at that.

I'm not here to talk about the monetization scheme though. I've seen examples of the eternals and I think that even if this was completely free they would be a bad idea. For example, one of the ones shown is "Bells Rung - Champions kill within three seconds of landing resonating strike" on Lee Sin. We all know that "Hit Q, Take Q" is already a meme on Lee Sin because most players lack the self-control to not take their Q follow-up into a bad situation. Lee Sin players are already building full damage even in circumstances where it is disadvantageous to do so. Do you know whats not going to help players fix either of those bad habits?

Having a F*cking system that rewards them with sparkly colors and a flashy banner and a shiny sticker for int'ing into an enemy team as long as they snag a kill before they die. Now your Jungler is dead as Elder is spawning and you don't have smite to contest it. Happens all the time. Rinse and repeat until Lee's nexus explodes.

Riot once said they weren't going to tell people how an S rank was calculated because it would lead to players playing for specific stats instead of wins. They said that this would ruin games for other players. Where the hell did that mentality go? A lot of people disagreed with that sentiment but it made a certain degree of sense. These eternals spit in the face of that philosophy and then go bang its partner while it's tied to a chair.

The last thing I need in this god-forsaken endless burst-damage meta is achievements encouraging players to be more reckless and tunnel-visioned than they already are. Not to mention - If Riot manages to monetize the damage meta itself, the damage meta will never, ever, ever go away, and then I'm probably just going to uninstall and full-on delete my account because this meta is absolutely abysmal to anyone not playing an Assassin, Bruiser, Fighter, or Diver. I digress.

Stop this Riot. Do you want monetization? The Boards are constantly full ideas and players asking for things to buy. Everything from map announcers to UI customization, none of which have an impact on gameplay and from what I understand of coding would be even cheaper to release. If you release these eternals and go down this path there will be no saving this game.

This game was far from saving long ago. I wholeheartedly agree with your post, this is going to do nothing but sink their shiny hooks even deeper into the brains of the ape-like manchildren that play this game, but they don't care because they'll still be making a killing off of it. Disgusting lack of respect for the game and the community from Riot time after time. The only reason to play this game any more is to have fun playing with friends. Ranked is broken, MMR is broken, matchmaking is broken, champions are broken... this game is broken and it would take nothing short of a complete 180 from Riot AND THE COMMUNITY to fix it -- which would be utterly miraculous.

if you can make progress for them in coop vs ia (dunno if you can on pbe), this will not be an issue (poeple who want to fast progress will go there instead of pvp game as it will be a guarentee easy way to grind them)
