Please make the champion sales affect IP as well.
Buying runes and champion take so much IP already. Would be nice to get 50% off champions in IP as well and not just RP.

I had this thought when I first started playing, but the intended purpose of the champion sales is to get people to buy them with RP, so this would pretty much defeat the purpose of that. Why buy them with RP when you can get a 6300 champ for a mere 3150?
With Hextech Crafting it's possible to get 6300 champs for 1700-5100 IP.
This is what I did to get all of the 6300 champions at a discount. I bought every champion up to 4800, then for 6300s I rr'd champion shards.
Thanks for the tip. I'm quite far away from owning all non 6300 champs, but I'll keep this in mind.
What about getting champs you don't like and would never play? Once that champ is in your inventory it becomes a target for mystery gifts.
What about a mere 10% off? 6300->5670 (-630) 4800->4320 (-480) 3150->2835 (-315) 1350->1215 (-135) 450->405 (-45)
Creates a minor boost, and it's not that bad at the higher stages.

Not a bad idea at all, though I'd prefer a small boost in IP drop rate, since I can use it elsewhere.
riot is greedy, why the hell would they do that?
riot is greedy, why the hell would they do that?
its not about greed its about how to run a business you dont give things away cheaper so that people spend less time using your product its about making the price just between where some players will wait to buy it and where some will be impatient and spend their money on it
Riot Games is in the business of making money as number 1 or nothing else exist. So we shouldn't be surprised that yes they want money that is a bunch of peoples livelihood.
The only businesses that are in business to make money are money prints.
What you described is literally the worst business practice in existence and why millions of people fucking fail and crash and burn every year trying to run a small business or startup.
You provide a product, good, or service, and make it the best damn thing you can and serve your customers.
Riot went into business to make a quality MOBA. If ALL they cared about was money then why ever balance/update/ research/develope anything, just print skins 24/7 like most crash grab garbage games do anyways(unsuccessful ones anyways).
And to be perfectly fucking honest people spending less time playing this game, while still retaining that player base, would be PREMIER business strats as A LOT of money gets spent on server upkeep.
Just becuase the content train is full blast and we are getting skins and Champs and this and that all the time doesn't mean that riot is greedy, or only cares about money. It means that they have their content systems rolling and are pumping the game full of shit the players want to keep the cycle going. Content-players-money-morecontent-moreplayers-moremoney. Etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc and on and on and on.
If you want to see greed there are plenty of other similar games than REQUIRE you to buy Champs with money and have the best Champs reserved for money and you can only play like Garen Ashe and Annie for free and that's all you get no matter how much you play ever unless you spend $$$.
And yea there's expensive stuff in the game. There's also a $1,000 ice cream Sundae that exists on this planet, so what.
"What you described is literally the worst business practice in existence and why millions of people fucking fail and crash and burn every year trying to run a small business or startup." You mean Wal-Mart?
dude all businesses are in it to make money as their number 1 because you need money to create your product sure riot is also in the business of making a quality game but money is still more important because you need to pay the people working on it or else it wouldnt exist
If businesses weren't in to make money they would be called charities.
Hey now, I don't get free Subway sandwiches all the time just by accumulating hours of videogaming.
Riot is a company, they have to pay employees (omg right?) and make a profit, the fact that we can earn things instead of spending money is generous as is.
Nobody is being forced to spend a single cent, period.
People who spend money do have an advantage though
Only on a select few skins does it help, such as I believe iBlitzcrank and some others. You are a fraction correct though!
That skin to win nonsense is just an urban legend. I mean it's not like there's ever been a gamebreaking bug that could only be accessed by buying a skin or something.
The cause of that bug seems to be the brand dying reset the bounce counter rather than the skin, unless you weren't actually being sarcastic.
Nah it was the skin causing it. They took it off the store and disabled Brand while they hotfixed it and everything. The funniest part is that the bug was found and reported on the PBE, but they still shipped the skin to live before they did anything about the bug. The ordeal was shady as fuck since it was specifically Zombie Brand only that had the issue, and it was allowed to run rampant on live for an entire day before it was acknowledged.
Depends on if you're playing competitively or casually. The benefits from paying for rune pages and whatever else isn't too worth it if you're a casual player, but nearly mandatory if you're a hardcore competitive player.
But that's true for most sports out there.
I mean, do you think basketball jerseys and volleyball knee/elbow pads are free?
SO yes, you're not being forced to pay a cent even if you're competitive, but it does give a competitive advantage. Again, Rito is a company who makes money, so of course there's benefits to cashing out a little $$$.
I mean, how old are you? Do you enjoy working for free or something, or do you want people to pay you?
Since when does basketball jerseys give you an advantage. Also you usually never have to pay for a basketball jersey on a team.
The point is you often have to invest in sports equipment, particularly if you're playing at a competitive high school/college level. I'm almost certain there's equipment fees unless things have changed in the past couple years.
You're kind of avoiding my point here. Do you, or do you not, spend money on real life sports equipment?
Pay? Just pay them with RP :^)
It's a free game. How is that greedy?
It's a free game. How is that greedy?
there are skins that cost $30.
When skins become a requirement to play, come back.
It's like having free ice cream but the flavor is vanilla and we can't change the flavor unless we pay or are gifted, but we still have ice cream and vanilla is pretty good. :D
Unless you're allergic to vanilla. (>_>) Or Diabetic . . .
Yeah in this fantasy you probably aren't.
True. I guess 1-handed and prone to epileptic seizures would be more accurate to the setting. ;p
I don't know. My analogy is trash.
Or I'm trolling. Hard to tell those things apart around here. (>_>)
That may be true, but I still make terrible analogies.
Anyone who thinks theres a chance of this happening is really stupid. Riot is a business and like every business they need money to survive. If they made sales on IP then thatd be even less RP that people would buy. Their are some who only spend RP on skins but there are others who spend RP on champs and if they made champs IP go on sale that would be less RP that people buy, and those numbers would add up.
You are getting a free game. Of course they are going to do stuff to encourage you to spend money on RP every single free game does that, but you dont have to spend a dime. You can get every single content in this game 100% free(even skins through crafting now). Like seriously they even made skins free to get now through crafting, the one thing you could never buy with IP and they made it free to get, and your still complaining? What do you think would happen if riot handed everything to you? They would get far less money and be a far smaller company right now.
Why do you think WoW is so big? Cause they are pay to play and get the money to keep shoving out new content and focusing on every aspect of their game. You are getting a free game, stop crying cause they need to make money. Whats next you going to cry about paying bills too? People need money to survive. Deal with it.
People aren't likely to buy champs with rp though. However, if they actually have rp, they would be more likely to spend it on skins for champions they own. Owning more champions gives that player more opprotinities to purchase skins or chromas with their RP.
As an analogy: Gillette would give away free razors. People who liked it would then buy more or replacement heads/blades. Those peoe were unlikely to buy those razors in the first place though.
Your argument is not completely valid.
"People aren't likely to buy champs with rp though." Why not? Like, I seriously don't get where you're coming from. If I can spend a marginal amount of money to save myself a significant amount of time, the money to effort quotient is more than enough to be justified.
I guess that part was more anecdotal for me. Neither I nor any of my close friends who play have bought champions with RP.
Because the game is free-to-play. Not everyone has the money nor the desire to buy champs with RP when they want them. The analogy he brings up is great and I can say that it applies to me. I am very unlikely to buy a new champ with RP, however, I spend RP on new skins quite frequently. Riot would benefit in the long run by offering reduced champ IP prices. People would have more champs to buy skins for.
"Champion bundles" Best of both worlds.
leveling is way too fast and IP is the only barrier right now that prevents new players from getting into ranked too early. I rather not see an IP sales
You are literally complaining that this free-to-play game isn't free enough. Kindly stop.
I can see why riot wouldn't go through with this but it would be nice
Well shit a cuple months ago everybody was convinced riot was the devil for what they did to solo Q now its like "whooooaaaa guys discount IP riot has to pay their emplyees and keep the company afloat" you guys do relize ip cost NOTHING right nothing to them you earn it by playing games... Riot just dosent profit off if it
Honestly, I disagree. Riot needs to make money aswell to run servers and everything. If you're not using money on them, consider yourself lucky to be able to play this game at all, much less buy champions to your liking. The facts are: They need money, and they aren't forcing anyone to pay anything. Taking 50% of IP purchases would make people not want to buy RP since you can't turn RP into IP. Those are the facts
Honestly, I'd be more interested in them having a pass through the current champion pool and applying IP cost reductions on a significant portion of the 6300 tier champs that are over 2+ years old.
Actually a thing already. . . Kinda. Every time a champion is released, the oldest 6300 IP champ gets the cost reduced. Every 5(?), 2 <6300 cost champions also get reduced.
Know its already a thing, just some of those that haven't been gotten to yet really could use the price drop because not only are they not new, they aren't even remotely meta. Poor broken Aatrox for example likely won't see a price drop for two and a half years, quite likely to eat a rework before it rolls around.
Is it really okay for stuff to be at the upper price point for an average of five years with the current rate of champion releases?
Every 3. It's better than 5. :D
Clearly you do not understand the idea of making you have something to work towards when new to the game.
There are modes that don't give as much IP and some of us simply don't spend their lifetime playing the game. So "new to the game" would only apply If there weren't palyers playing for more than year and still not having even half the roster. I thought point of the game was on the Rift, but obviosuly it is champhunt, my bad. The rift thing is probably just some sidefeature they added because they were bored.
