Try playing him He already is broken

Too many people are stuck on their ancient misconception of Urgot However they haven't realized that Riot has destroyed every other tank and forgot that Urgot is insanely tanky

Urgot is still a bad marksman but I guess everyone plays him like a bruiser.

Ariel the Cruel9 votes

I play him in support. (>_>) Good harass. good armor shred. Decent slow. Decent shield. His ult is god-like in lane.

Only works if you're in synch with your ADC though. (Which naturally means Kali is out of the question.)

ElBoob1 votes

Damn.. I keep forgetting to do this.

VardenSalad2 votes

Urgot isn't a marksman. He's an Anti-Carry AD caster, where most of his damage comes from using abilities.

Terchio1 votes

I'd argue the same of Graves, Ezreal, and Miss Fortune. Using abilities isn't supposed to keep you from being a Marksman. However, because he has to be strong enough with his chase-built kit, he tends to get into more trouble than average, and then has no escape, which ruins him in that position.

VardenSalad1 votes

He doesn't use autos for DPS. He uses abilities. He's a ranged AD caster (playstyle and kit dynamics) and bruiser (build path).

TheRainInSpain1 votes

Urgot uses both autos and abilities to do damage. But, his kit synergizes better with a Jayce-like build than the traditional ADC build, which is why you see a Manamune, Frozen Heart, etc.

Terchio1 votes

His autos are still strong, just less reliable since they generally work best when hitting E first, an easy to dodge skillshot, especially when not inside harass range. Their AD ratio is 1.0, compared to the .85 on Q, and cooldowns are shorter, too. The issue is that he tends to be too glass cannon to use either reliably when a marksman. If you focus on a E-Q kit, your damage flatlines pretty bad after level 9, and that's pretty harsh for a marksman.

TheRainInSpain1 votes

What is a Marksman? A naturally ranged champion that relies on auto attacks to deal damage.

What is Urgot? A naturally ranged champion that relies on auto attacks to deal damage.

Urgot is a Marksman/Fighter, or in other words, a Ranged Bruiser.

Whinja7 votes

You obviously have never played with or against an Urgot. He doesn't use his autos for his dps.

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

He does from lvl 1-2. Sometimes even at level 3. THREE!

Beat that, Vayne.

TheRainInSpain1 votes

So whenever you play Ezreal, you only use Mystic Shot? Completely ignore his other three skills? Sounds about right.

Urgot is a Marksman. Says so on the tin. Urgot relies on his auto attacks to deal damage. Sure he's got his Acid Hunter rounds, but if you only use that, then you're asking to be destroyed.

Of course you don't only use that E reduces the enemies armor and makes your Q seeking W makes your Q slow, and protects you

The fundamental difference between the 2 champions is that Ezreal is fast, mobile and has much higher damage Urgot is slow, with high defenses and has slightly lower damage and significantly more team utility

Ezreal is a Ranged ADC or Mage Urgot is a Ranged Bruiser or Tank

TheRainInSpain1 votes

My point is that they're both ranged autoattackers that just happen to rely on spells for a large portion of their kit. What's the point of building AD on either if you're only going to use your spells? What's the point of building AP if you only autoattack (Not a Sheen or Nashor Tooth build)? You're intentionally gimping yourself by doing so.

A Bruiser can still be a Marksman. Jayce and Gnar are Fighter/Marksman. Quinn and Urgot are Marksman/Fighter. Four ranged bruisers, that build more defensive when they have to, and more offensive when you let them get away with it. And if you want to get technical about it, Ryze is a ranged AP bruiser and Elise is a pseudo-ranged AP bruiser.

The Loveless1 votes

If he's broken, how should he be nerfed?

Talamare8 votes

Oh I fully agree he is a terrible ADC, and should never be built as an ADC

He is a Bruiser / Tank, Don't think of his minor range as meaning he should be an ADC He is literally a Ranged Tank

EMOFRATPARTY1 votes

He is a great ADC, he just needs to be built like one. If you can find good synergy with your support and farm your way up to a Brutalizer without getting caught out much, you're set in-lane.

#StopBuildingManamune2015

TheRainInSpain1 votes

Depends on if you're playing him in a solo lane or a duo lane. If you go duo, you better have a Support that can feed you mana and help lock down enemies. Otherwise you'll run out of mana or get shoved out of lane.

If you attempt a solo lane, you don't have a Support (obvious), so you need a source of Mana. The reason why it is recommended you get Manamune is because of how it synergizes with Frozen Heart. Additional Armor/MR makes shields harder to break, and the big chunk of mana from Frozen Heart makes the burst damage on Manamune bigger. You may also want to invest in Essence Reaver and Iceborn Gauntlet to make people miserable.

Ariel the Cruel2 votes

I'm not a big fan of reaver, personally. Since his AA's are such a small part of his damage output, it just seems a waste to me. It would be different if his Q wasn't coded as a spell.

IcB is kinda Iffy. Since he already has a decent slow tied to his shield, and he has to be in AA range to use it. It's decent for stats and post-ult follow-up. But that's about it. I'd probably get a TF instead, if I were to get a spell-blade Item.

Don't you love it? Urgot can be played as a bruiser a lot better than he can an ADC and everyone is still hung up on the misconception he HAS to be bot lane.

I remember a time when Annie HAD to be mid and my Annie support was deemed a troll pick. (Before s3 worlds, like a year beforehand.)

Morg HAD to be a mid laner.

Times change, people need to learn to play champs in other roles if they can actually succeed at the role as one of the primary champs of said role. Urgot isn't a fit ADC, Quinn isn't really a fit ADC she's far better top. Urgot is the same.

VardenSalad2 votes

Yeah, he's an Anti-Carry. His kit exists to punish positioning mistakes by carries and to prevent them from damaging his team.

Passive: 15% reduced damage on Autos and Qs

Q: Spammable ranged spell that applies his passive

W: Shield that slows targets of Qs and autos

E: Armor shred with lock-on of targets for Qs

Ult: Swaps positions with target and gives resistances, most effective at freezing assassins or swapping a carry into your team

His kit stops damage carries from doing damage and prevents their escape. But really, Urgot's passive and build path is what makes him such an effective anti-carry.

urgot did have a turn at being broken a long time ago. he just went and took a dump on the entire bot lane and bullied the enemy adc into worthlessness. i recall watching an old pro game where they sent urgot 1v2 bot lane and STILL bullied the enemy duo out of lane and shut them down

junglerboy165 votes

Look at the patch where they gutted him. If they reverted those changes, he would resume being nearly OP for a little bit before people realize that his kit was strong then but is not near as broken now.

Rykagnar5 votes

NOOOOO!!!!

Dont expose Urgot! Let his brokeness be secret for at least 20 more patches....

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........................

Urgot is pretty strong right now, but i would like to see him be sht face broken for a little while.

Major Sparkles2 votes

No urgot is not strong. He's like mediocre with one arm, figuratively.

Urgot is very strong, Evelynn on the other hand....

Release Urgot.

He wasn't quite Release Xin broken. But pub-stomping a 2v1 bot lane is no small feat.

I haven't found a real solid counter to him top lane yet - as long as you play smart. At worst, you'll go slightly less than even. The downside, of course, is that when you pick him your team thinks you're trolling, and for some reason leads them to believe this gives them license to play like shit. I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me. Like, I'll dominate top, and then dominate most of the game, but if we lose "HURRRRRRRR WHY YOU PICK URGOT."

They should Bring back the Taric and Urgot combo back and make them Unstoppable again. summoner 3 summoner 1 {{summoner:10}}

This is my Build For Urgot: item 3004 ,item 3277 ,item 3071 ,item 3046 item 3102 item 3508

EMOFRATPARTY1 votes

I've found this to work out pretty well:

item 3111 item 3071 item 3156 item 3035 item 3508 item 3102

You can also mix it up by throwing in Iceborn Gauntlet, Infinity Edge, or Frozen Heart.

I'm able to carry a game with him if I can get ahead, all he needs is some cdr, attack damage (not attack speed because his q is basically another auto) and LOTS of lifesteal and Crit :3

1v2 and no health lost

Urgot doesn't have enough mobility for rito to let him be strong.
