A little assistance for the newer junglers, or people learning to improve as a jungler.
Now dont expect any CRAZY hint and tips from me (as i happen to only be gold 5) BUT the reason i am making this, is because within the past 7 days (a couple have been me playing norms so about 3 days of ranked?) i have finished from S4 to gold 5, ending with exactly a 63% winrate on gragas out of 24 games, a 73% winrate on sej out of 11, an 89% winrate on warwick out of 9 games, and a 83 % winrate on hecarim out of 6 games.
Yes, to climb as a jungler playing the meta is required if you are new to jungling, or happen to be below diamond. (not really mechanics wise but just pure game knowledge and knowing what to do and when to do it can help with winning with an off meta jungler)
Something i always love to do dependent on my jungler is clearing 3 camps, then going for an early gank.
Like with hecarim, i always start with bot side, do my red, raptors, blue ---> a gank. Usually backing with around 600-700 gold if i got an assist or 1000-1200 if i got a kill (the highest amount is if i taxed the lane after ganking the lane. And if i started on the opposite side i do blue, wolves, red ---> a gank.
After i back i usually buy a core item. For warwick since you start talisman and rejuv bead you can afford tiamat if you happen to get the kill, if you didnt then just get red smite, if you have enough then buy a control ward and place it on either an objective or a buff dependent on what you're planning on doing and which lane you are planning on ganking. On hecarim i get sheen first almost always, and on sejuani no matter what i always get blue smite, and if i got the kill i get boots with blue smite as well to help with ganking.
Something you always want to do is find an optimal clear and work with it, find out best ways to kite the camps, which camp to smite (dont ever smite first camp because smite levels up with you and gets more damage with your level so you're gonna need it for the camps you have to solo due to the fact you dont have your team with you helping you clear camps all the time.) Make sure to know when to use smite. Ex: I just finished my blue and go level 6, but after a recent skirmish i happen to be 30% hp, but the enemy ahri with no flash or ult is really over extended and we just did drag so its on cd. So i should smite my wolves or gromp, and try to get my mid laner or myself a free kill on the ahri. Another Ex: Dragon is up, all my laners are shoving in their lane and we got a pick on someone near bot lane (jungler, adc, support) I should save smite for the dragon and not smite scuttle.
Another thing is lane ganking. This is where you walk up from behind your tower when your laner is shoving and sitting in a brush outside of minion vision to get deep into the lane without the enemy noticing. 1 of two things can happen. 1. the enemy jungler ends up trying to gank your laner and you get the element of surprise and get a free double, or 2. the enemy laner jumps on your laner wasting their escape and you get the element of surprise.
Another form of ganking is diving. This is very difficult to do at times and is very situational, ONLY do this if you are playing a champ you are comfortable with and you have someone to tank it. If the enemy team has a fiora top, and you're playing sejuani, and you have a teemo top, and shes low from getting poked down and you have a huge minion wave, wait for the wave to crash into the tower, try to bait her parry or cc her before she can realize it. (like q'ing over the wall and ulting her before she reacts and killing her whilst tanking the tower) Make sure you either have flash (for an escape to cancel the tower shot that could be fatal) Something i personally do in ranked is i always look at the enemy team, find out which lane is immobile or which one of my teammates has either the cc or damage to set up a free gank, and generally op.gg the lane i think is the easy gank. If the enemy team has a jax, he happens to have a 70% winrate, and my top laner is gragas or sion, i can buy an early control ward on my first back, come top, control ward the brush and wait for my top laner to set up a reasonal bait for the enemy top lane jax to waste his escape and possible blow a free flash or get a free first blood.
The most important thing is practice, dont let popular streamers like IWD put you down because you arent at his elo, you can always improve and if you put the time and effort into it jungling becomes second nature. (kiting, watching the map, warding enemy jungle, clearing your jungle, ect)
Remember to work clearing camps into your ganking patterns, ward for your team, counter gank if your laner is pushing, and objectives are a huge part of the game, so securing dragon and punishing the enemy jungler for ganking top while your bot lane is shoving, or taking his camps while hes on the other side of the map. :) jungling becomes easy at some point, just mute people if your team is pressuring you and spam pinging, its all about doing what you think is right and learning more about the game.
I know this isnt the most detailed and im pretty sure anyone else could do this better, but its something right? its the thing most people dont take the time to try and teach you and expect you to learn it on your own, almost every game you're missing out on free gold and kills because some high elo player thought it was too tedious to try and teach you the more complex things.
