Why should Kalista be able to ult CC'd Allies?

King Odin··92 votes·4,829 views

Warwick ganked and ulted Blitzcrank and then Kalista just ulted under the safety of her tower and saved him, seems a little unfair.

Because her abilities aren't blocked; She's not the one who is CCed.

Even Thresh in all his broken glory cannot pull a CC locked ally to safety >_>.

Sona Ping17 votes

Because the one who is CCed is the one trying to use the lantern, in that situation.

Let's put it a different way. If three people drop their CC on the support to expressly lock them there, Ults, basic abilities, more than likely a flash/exhaust, and Kalista's support gets a free pass from all that. All your effort lost, and that support get's to propel themselves in the complete opposite direction after being pulled into an invulnerable ether.

Say Kalista ults her support, and she dies in the crossfire, WELL: Same thing, that support is still pulled into the ether, can still disrupt your team or run the fuck away as deemed better by the situation, or can wait it out and buy time where, instead of these options they get, they should be pulled forcefully from the ether as Kalista dies.

You know, I don't know what you want here.
Yeah, their intention was to " expressly lock them there", but their intention isn't exactly material here. I'm not going to sidetrack us into a conversation about the badplay of overusing that much on a Blitz Support, because that's not your point. "All your effort lost". Yes, but someone could use Mikael's, cleanse, Quicksilver, Bard's Ult, Gragas' Ult, Lux Q, and more to accomplish the same of saving that support.

If what you are looking for is to bag on CTD for giving Kalista too much in kit, that's fine, I wouldn't argue in the least. But Kalista's ult isn't acting abnormally for this game

captainkaiger3 votes

But even with mikael's or cleanse, or quicksilver it doesn't give you a completely free way out, because you aren't being ripped out of the game and into an invulnerable ether. With cleanse giving persistent bonus tenacity afterwards, you have the best chance, but you are still in the middle of the cluster, you can still be attacked.

Kalista's ult breaks the usual rules of "You got caught out, you're dead."

Pffft!

Never in all my life did I expect anyone (aside from specific people) on the Boards to say this.

yes, poor guy will have to wait 1.5 seconds till the cc is done then jump half of the map, thresh is far a bigger douchelord than kalista as far as the "get out of jail free card" goes, because: 1)it's her ultimate(and as such requires level 6),and it deals no damage. 2)it can only affect one, predetermined target. 3)due to other things, that guy is most likely the support, the lowest priority target, that is no chasing an elusive/adc mid laner only for him to be saved by a lantern, instead it's some tank/janna/etc.

When you gank kalista, you focus kalista, when you gank a thresh focus him and the faggot will get away due to his tanky stats and immense disengage(because clearly if you have so much kill potential you need at least the same amount of disengage, otherwise you won't be a retarded abomination),focus his adc and the faggot will throw a lantern.

Yes kalista's melee+skillshot immunity is gay as hell, but as far as being a gank immune gaylord goes, she can't compete with tresh.

in b4 kalista support

Lemons221 votes

Already experienced it...it was not pleasant.

Eedat12 votes

Because it's an ultimate that only works on one person on her team per game. It wouldn't be fair to say that her Ultimate should have the same effect as a Thresh's lantern

Nucleophilic atk4 votes

Last time I checked, Thresh's lantern also was deactivated when the enemy stands on it. Thresh's lantern also can't be used to throw the ally at the enemy.

Eedat4 votes

Last I checked, Thresh's lantern isn't his ult and can be used on all members of his team....

Nucleophilic atk4 votes

I also didn't disagree with that. But this change OP suggested certainly wouldn't make Kalista's ult into Thresh's lantern....

Eedat3 votes

You're right, it would be even worse than Thresh Lantern lol. Again, Kalista's Ult can only be used on one target the entire game

Nucleophilic atk2 votes

Wasn't arguing that it would be better or worse (although it clearly wouldn't be worse), simply stating that taking away the ability to throw CC'd allies would not make it Thresh's lantern.

Imperial Japan2 votes

You realize thresh can just flat ww off and lantern his friend?

Nucleophilic atk3 votes

If he is close enough to flay, why would he be lanterning lol?

King Odin2 votes

The ultimate is knockup as well. Yes you need a teammate but it doesn't mean having a malphite knockup bot is a bad thing^

Am I the only one that has an issue with Warwick ulting the Blitzcrank and not Kalista?

KaisadiIIa7 votes

We have no context, maybe Blitz was low health and isolated, and ulting him for a kill was worth.

JustMyBassCannon5 votes

According to what context we were given, Blitzcrank was just not under the turret.

Because, y'know, Warwick can't gank under turrets. It's not like that's a major shtick for him.

King Odin3 votes

Me too, but Kalista was out of range. Blitz was half the lane up whilst Kalista was close to her tower.

Lemons222 votes

Yea, because once I get ulti on WW I know it's TOWER DIVIN' TIME WHOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO YEAH.

Oh wait that would be retarded in most instances to go for someone just chillin' under a tower rather than a sup caught out in lane.

JustMyBassCannon9 votes

Is that any different from Kayle ulting them? Or what about any number of champions shielding Warwick's target? How about someone throwing hard CC at long range, like Xerath or Malzahar?

King Odin11 votes

Yes, because she repositions them and takes them out of their predicament. Kayle provides invulnerability but it's not very useful when you're surrounded by 4 enemies now is it?

But hey let's kill this Alistar in baron pit, WW ults him. Kalista says nope and thresh lanterns him immediately out off the cc.

JustMyBassCannon5 votes

If Warwick ulted Alistar, that was already a massive waste. He should be saving that for a priority target, not a front-liner with low damage output.

You're a twit. He / She was using that as an example. You twit.

JustMyBassCannon4 votes

You're a moron who missed the point.

I stated that Warwick chose the wrong target. Let's just pretend nobody said anything about Alistar; I'm still saying, Warwick ulted the wrong target. He should save it for a priority target.

It's like complaining about Caitlyn's ultimate getting negated by Sivir's Spell Shield. Wrong target, pick something less likely to completely screw over your gimmick.

Imperial Japan3 votes

Also being that alistar is really tanky

King Odin2 votes

I was actually thinking about Alistar being caught in the pit whilst Kalista was over the wall. The team only has vision of Alistar, who else could they focus?

JustMyBassCannon2 votes

Still a horrible, bronze-tier decision. "Can't see a more important target? Better waste my ultimate on the tank."

It's like complaining that the team wasted their CC when they knew Katarina was on the enemy team, but they didn't hold onto it because they couldn't see her.

captainkaiger3 votes

Fine then, a different example.

Alistar is out warding, with Kalista vaguely near him, the rest of the team is pushing lanes. Alistar gets dogpiled, Kalista walks ten feet and pulls Alistar to complete safety ignoring any CC dropped on him.

No. I didn't miss the point. Everyone knows that WW shouldn't ult an alistar. What you missed is that if the target is suppressed [REGARDLESS OF WHO IT IS] that target shouldn't be able to be affected by the Kalista Ult.

JustMyBassCannon3 votes

Oh, literally any other effect is allowed--invulnerability, shielding, healing, Lulu's ultimate which would buff them AND interrupt Warwick's ultimate, god forbid they bought a Quicksilver Sash or happened to be one of the champions who can naturally nope.avi Suppression--but Kalista is suddenly off-limits because "Fuck you, you're Kalista."

I think the main problem OP has with the spell is that it doesn't just interrupt the cc, it also puts the cc'd player in an extremely advantaged position.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

And this is a problem because...?

Oh, that's right, because it's a brand new mechanic (probably one Riot will never replicate), and the fact that it does something different means people need to bitch that it's easier and stronger than other options (while the former is true, the latter is not likely).

kayle ult does not prevent CC, in many cases the CC-locked target is still doomed.

Greedalox2 votes

All I hear is why should different abilities have different effects. You keep comparing champions as if they should be the same champion.

King Odin4 votes

Please enlighten me as to what two champions I am comparing?

Deadly Mittens2 votes

You're kind of comparing Kalista highly limited ultimate to a Thresh lantern because they have similar ally movement effects but are in effect radically different.

For perspective, why wouldn't a Kayle or Zilean be able to ult and save their teammate just because the teammate was cc'ed?

2pudge1cup2 votes

Kalista has a better support ability than a number of supports.

Only CertainlyT can achieve this.

Madman3572 votes

She can do that because she's so balanced, obviously.

Galois1 votes

Here is what I wonder, what if Thresh or blitz or any other pull champ, pull the enemy and Kalista ults and goes to the turret? :P

King Odin1 votes

Kalista's ult takes precedence over the pulls.
