Clairvoyance should get a buff

You should decrease its cooldown slightly, increase its radius and increase how long it reveals that area of the map. I think its sad that people yell at you when you take clairvoyance. Other summoner spells like clarity should get buffed aswell. Riot is always talking about "diversity" and stuff, so here's your opportunity.

They talk about diversity... Meanwhile item 3070 REVIVE item 3070

Well, at least it is still used by trolls.

Terff20 votes

nah, its not used at all... its gone.

They had no reason to remove it. Nothing the balance team can pull out their asses to justify Revive being removed can't be argued. They understand this, so they say nothing, pretend this problem doesn't exist, and go back to jacking off to LCS.

Diversity by restriction. Mmkay.

Aeolian Melodies1 votes

Yeah I think it should've been kept at least for Dominion, I hate the revive trinket. Revive was ok when it was a choice.

Keevalroy3 votes

It should have been kept for all modes - except ARAM; that would be messy.

Since it was stated not too long ago that Rioters lurk more than they post, would anyone from the balance team like to finally defend your outrageous decision? Or would you rather do what you always do when we question you: hide and plug your ears?

killd0zer1 votes

They removed it because taking it was a "noob trap"

As in it looks good, but it really isnt, see Madreds Bloodrazor.

Something as powerful as revive was incredibly difficult to balance on a game like summoners rift, where it really didn't fit in with the other spells.

there is literally a trinket that does what cv does but better

like sure you can see their base at 5 seconds in and find the jungler doing their lower camp at 1:30 but lets get real its a shit spell and the blue trinket is better in every way

macromite3 votes

actually clairvoyance is better until the ward, and even then range.

{{summoner:2}} makes the jungling role feel meaningless when it's strong, thus it's tricky to buff and is poor for game health when it is.

And honestly it should just be removed at this point, item 3342 item 3363 are literally a more healthy version of it.

summoner 13 is a tool for newbs and rito has said that many times before, so no.

Why it fulfills it's purpose of helping newer players when they don't understand mana management.

Is it so wrong we have one summoner spell to help people get use to the game rather having competitive usage like every other summoner spell?

So heal isn't to help new players learn about dodging skill shots and playing safe? Yet every adc takes it because it's so much stronger than barrier now.

I honestly love playing summoner 12 summoner 3 on support Lulu, but I can't do that because I'm not satiating my team's unhealthy desire for a summoner 4 REQUISITE.

If you don't take Flash, you're a troll/feeder/etc. There is no diversity. There is meta and that is it.

Your summoner spell choices should be as unique and fulfilling as your rune page setup. . . . Where as I know some people have to follow a pro rune page otherwise they will die inside, it provides the most player driven unique aspect of the game. I think Summoner Spells should be just as meaningful.

It use be good for team fights even before it was better than barrier, and now it's better for 2 people and a little worst for 1. It was never same tier as Clarity and said to be same purpose as clarity by rito.

It's always been the same tier as Clarity. You get it at the same time as Clarity. Just because one keeps you alive longer doesn't mean it should be considered more viable than another spell?

There are too many champions who just aren't mana gated enough/at all. Champs like Kat, Yasuo, Zed can just spam their abilities without repercussion. Champs like Cass have to be given a way to make sure they can farm without being completely mana gated, others like Annie and Xerath.

If they buffed Clarity to make it viable for champs who are mana gated to be able to stay in lane and on par with those are resourceless then where is the negative in that? Other than "OH RITO SAID. . . " well call them out on it. Summoner Spell diversity is a thing that needs to happen.

You should have to think when all inning a mage with no mana, "Do they have Clarity up? Could this backfire on me?" Just like if you were to all in an adc "Is this a heal bait?"

The problem is Clarity would have to be buffed an absolutely game breaking degree for people to use it.

Because you can just get mana regen from items or runes, and mana in a burst isn't typically useful and falls off hard in value as the game goes on. And if you want full mana restores item 3255 + summoner 12 would better serve you in flexibility.

Hence why it is difficult to make it a competitive spell without making it game breaking.

Clarity as it stands restores a percent amount which is much more beneficial to mages than anyone else to take as an "Eh, why not?" spell. If you are seriously saying take TP and use it for a trip back to well just for mana then you're misguided. Clarity has a 3 minute cd vs TP's 5

It doesn't need to be buffed a significant amount. Especially not a 'game breaking' amount. They just need to give people a reason, or motivating factor, to take it. They gave heal a speed boost, why can't they do something similar to Clarity? Maybe for 30 seconds after increase base mana regen by a certain amount?

And people can take Health regen runes and masteries, but this hasn't stopped summoner 7 from becoming 'competitive'.

That's because in combat burst of health is naturally much more valuable than a burst of mana.

I said because it's more flexibility and be used for different purposes as the game goes on while also providing mana restore chance. And it's only 4 min CD when you're going to a turret. Where as Clarity is locked into it's purpose all game.

Speed boost wouldn't really do much to help it either because again in combat burst of mana isn't that valuable. And I am failing to see how "more mana" would make it a worthwhile bit.

If you don't take Flash, you're a troll/feeder/etc. There is no diversity. There is meta and that is it.

I dont consider Flash to be as mandatory as many people say. It is mandatory for champions such as Malzahar and KogMaw who are squishy, immobile, and have no self peel. But not every champion absolutely needs Flash to the same level as those two. For example, sometimes I use Ghost/Ignite on Vladimir. This is because Vlad is tanky, has self peel, sustain - so he has enough safety to forgo Flash in favor of Ghost, which actually gives him the power needed to chase some targets. Some people don't know, but one of Vladimir's main weakness is that because he has short range, it is difficult for him to stick to targets that have an higher range than him or are mobile.

Other champions that do not need Flash as much: Hecarim (in fact, most people play him with Ignite/Teleport), Shaco, Udyr, and believe on me: Fizz. There may be other examples too.

TotalJerk1 votes

People don't forgo flash on Hec because he doesn't need it, they just take ghost over it because it synergizes with him so well that it's often preferable to flash.

Dengeden1 votes

Flash is both an escape and a play-making tool. As long as both of those are necessary, flash is the ideal summoner spell.

If at any point in time that spell becomes obsolete on anything, that thing becomes overcentralizing Hecarim. That's because flash has the highest CD in the game (since revive got removed). Nothing you do will change that.

And from a different view: flash enables a lot of plays that wouldn't be possible without it. Sounds like diversity to me.

So heal isn't to help new players learn about dodging skill shots and playing safe? Yet every adc takes it because it's so much stronger than barrier now.

It's both what you said and what they said? ... Barrier is better than heal on AP mids btw.

I was playing Taric once, with Clairvoyance. We had a Zilean mid who also had Clairvoyance.

We won that game...

Bonipherus3 votes

They should give {{summoner:2}} the effect it had from the mastery tree from season 3. After you spot someone they are revealed for an additional 3-4 seconds after leaving the area. Could possible work some form of true sight in there as well. Not on the entire spell area of course, maybe just where the center eye is.

Yfrappefort3 votes

I remember way back in season 1, every support took clairvoyance. Then Riot nerfed it. Now it has been forgotten for 4 seasons. I think it's time to buff it to make it somewhat desirable compared to other spells.

CrazedPorcupine3 votes

IMO, Make CV do a shorter first half of TF ult, where it reveals all enemies on the map for 1-2 seconds.

DrathTurtle3142 votes

Clairvoyance doesn't need a buff, the community needs to recognize that there are non-combat summoners other than flash, ghost, TP, and smite... That being said, clairvoyance being used in pro play seems unlikely because blue trinket, TF ult, ashe hawkshot, etc. are things.

I always grab Clairvoyance in Twisted Treeline, it helps a ton. I haven't tried it in the Rift though since I normally roll with summoner 12 and summoner 13.

It would be pretty nice to see a shorter cooldown and longer radius

summoner 13 In addition to returning mana to you and your teammates, you gain +10% AP for 10s. Something like that might make it better for mages in mid lane, champions like Lux and Xerath aern't very effecient with ignite because they aern't usually in range for it. It'd be nice to have an offensive spells that long range mages can actually use.

it should also reveal stealth enemies if it doesnt already do that .

CV is honestly fine, people just massively underrate vision in general. How else does one explain so many non-upgraded trinkets? I take it sometimes when I'm playing a farming jungler; I find my back pings have a lot more oomph when they can actually see the person about to murder them.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

{{summoner:2}} summoner 13 and maybe summoner 1 or summoner 21 need buffs. I would love summoner 4 being nerfed but it won't happen.

Verandure1 votes

summoner 1 is fine as it is. It's taken on mid-laners who are against hard cc and burst. The tenacity on it is great.

summoner 21 used to outclass summoner 7 in every way until heal was changed in 4.5. Before that, bot lane was always summoner 4 summoner 21 .

{{summoner:2}} and summoner 13 could definitely see some buffs, though I'd argue that summoner 13 fulfills its job well. It's just that most mages that would need the burst of mana will build mana regen into their items and end up with a rather lackluster summoner, endgame. It's good during laning, especially against manaless or energy champions with good waveclear.

TurquoiseYoshi2 votes

summoner 13 is really only useful early, without blue buff, midlane (mana midlaners), and without building mana regen early. That's way too many specifics to be a good summoner.

luckeyjoker1 votes

I would also like to see cv see some games outside noob games even they don't take it. Why it don't reveal invisible enemies idk but it needs it. Cv is a tool to get information and if there is going to be any buffs to Cv it should be geared towards how it can give information like give an indicator where the enemy is for x amount of time (I don't want to a reveal after cv just to see my opponents and see them stop and spam the laugh button, zed). A buff to clarity since it's used to keep up with the offense it should just buff aa attacks depending on total allies (including you) you've refund mana with.

stealthfox941 votes

I don't think I've ever seen somebody use it who wasn't a noob or a troll...so yeah.

BigPooStorm1 votes

They should remove it honestly and come up with another summoner spell to make things interesting. No reason to take it at all when you have a scrying orb. In literally my thousand+ games I've never seen that summoner spell used.

Aeolian Melodies2 votes

I take it you did not play during the first season then.

During season 1 CV was an absolute staple for every supports because the CD was short enough to use it at the beginning of the game (see who's going where, see if they rushed to an invade, etc), where the jungler started, then when you arrived in bot lane you could toss it between the two bushes and see if someone was waiting in there for the lvl 1 cheese.

The CD was short enough and the jungle routes predictable enough that good supports could literally make a jungler's life hell because they'd follow you around with the magical eye and open opportunities for counter jungle and/or kill gank potential.

CV was nerfed to oblivion in pre-season 2 and was never really seen since (ADC who were going flash + exhaust in S1 switched to flash + ignite while the support became the designated exhaust carrier - since then ADC have switched to flash + defensive spell, aka heal or barrier depending on which one is currently strongest, and the support has always packed their combat summoner spell of choice between exhaust and ignite).

I used to really, really love CV and even used it to be a complete bitch to the enemy by denying them the cover of bushes cross-map so they wouldn't juke my team (then my team was like "OH WOW!!" and I cried because it didn't give me assist gold), or bot lane so the enemy couldn't duke into a bush to avoid minion aggro after a poke. However, it has simply lost its place in the game with bot lanes being so fight-oriented and the ADC packing only defensive spells. The birth of the blue trinket simply was the nail in the coffin.

rampaging poet1 votes

With flash being essentially mandatory in 90% of games and Riot being afraid to change it because it's too important to the game's balance, I think another solution is in order. Give everyone Flash plus their choice of two summoner spells. Everything can still be balanced around everyone having flash (almost everyone already does) and the other summoner spells don't need to compete with its insane versatility.

Aeolian Melodies1 votes

I'm sorry, are you really saying you want to play against Kallista with flash + 3 of her choices between heal, barrier, ghost, cleanse and exhaust? Because I know I fucking don't.

rampaging poet1 votes

If it means that I get a real choice of summoner spells instead of "I'm ADC so Heal Flash" then probably.

The biggest problem I can see with it is that it lets champions that counter each other counter harder. As you pointed out, Kalista with Flash + Heal + Ghost / Cleanse would be very difficult to catch, so she'd make melee characters even sadder than she already does. However, assassins jumping on her might shut her down doubly with Exhaust + Ignite, greatly reducing her ability to flee and lifesteal (might have to bait out the Cleanse if that's what she took).

Taking the game as it exists now and just throwing extra summoners on top wouldn't be balanced because some champions can benefit more from the additional spell than others. If this happened, it would have to be part of preseason to give Riot time to rebalance the outliers. I still think the extra possibilities it opens up could be worth it. Summoner spells are supposed to help customize the champion to your playstyle and team composition, but the worthwhile choices are so constrained that they pretty much fail at their intended purpose. I think making Flash free could help get them back on track.

Verandure1 votes

Another option would be to passively increase sight radius while clairvoyance is on cooldown.

It's weird, because it'd be the only Summoner Spell with a passive effect, but clairvoyance simply can't compete with the Farsight Orb in its current state.

A similar treatment could be given to Clarity and Barrier as well (though I can't think of what to do with barrier. After heal was buffed, it kinda fell out of use.)

Aeolian Melodies1 votes

Ignite used to give you AD and AP (10 or 5 of each, can't remember) for being on CD. It was removed a while ago. I remember how it made Sona stronger in early trades, you'd drop Ignite on whoever you and ADC were focusing, pop Q, then suddenly you had at least 15 AP+AD over the enemy (depending on your Q's level). That, plus the dmg + debuff from Ignite resulted in a kill if your ADC's brain wasn't AFK.

MrSlowDie1 votes

Sometimes I run summoner 1 summoner 4 in mid lane. Y know, it can clear zed ult, ignite, exhaust, etc.

sometimes I also use summoner 21 summoner 4 or summoner 6 summoner 4 as ADC, if my support goes heal flash

and ofc, I use summoner 11 summoner 3 or summoner 11 summoner 14 when playing shaco

but clairvoyance? I haven't touch it since I play league >_>

Make it reveal the whole map. Now before you all start complaining that it'll be OP, let's consider the 3 most popular summoner spells; tp, ignite and flash, they are still going to be used a hell of a lot if not the same amount, atleast this way clairvoyance isnt a joke when picked in champ select.
