Yeah its meant to reduce long queue times...EUW is the biggest LoL server after the Chinese servers and its 10 pm here....don't tell me there are not enough players in a shitty elo like Plat.

The player base declined pretty significantly this season. Less players means the new queue systems won't function as well. Not function as well requires them to use autofill to avoid 10-20 minute queue timers.

Basically it's a thing because riot made the game much much worse this season and players didn't care for it so they quit playing.
