No replacement for meditation mastery(mana regen) in new runes

I am a sona main, currently plat 1. If this mana regen is taken away it will ruin sona and other mana heavy supports. For reference it's 1.25% of your missing mana every 5 seconds, and the closest we have in the new runes is manaflow band. Manaflow band gives 10% of current missing mana every 60 seconds, and as far as I can tell you can not control it(so you can't use it when you want to, it will just sort of go off then you wait 60 seconds whether you wanted it then or not).

This is overall a lot less mana regen and a lot less reliable. If you run oom now, and you don't have mana flow coming up for another 40 seconds, guess what you're out of luck. In current form sona will frequently go oom because she needs to spam spells and they have a high mana cost... I don't see how after the update this sort of playstyle will be viable. I get that managing your mana is a "skill" but to me this makes the game a lot less fun and ruins my champ for me. I would like some sort of item or some sort of rune that we can take to get back the old mastery.

You get biscuits which not only restore mana but give permanent increase to mana pool.

There are also other mana sustain options you can get in addition to Manaflow Band.

  • Kleptomancy can randomly generate mana potions.
  • Presence of Mind gives you back some mana after autoattacking champions.
  • Biscuit Delivery gives you 4 15% missing mana restores over 12 minutes.

Also, you didn't consider the fact that Manaflow Band actually makes a spell free in addition to the mana gain. However admittedly this isn't the most ideal for Sona but it's something you need to consider.

Hold judgement until you play with the runes.

It got downvoted because there ARE replacements. four biscuits are granted for free which restore 15% missing mana on use (and increase total mana) and mana flow restores 10% missing mana every minute, along with making ults and other high-cost spells completely free every minute. That is very comparable to restoring 1.5% missing mana every 5 seconds, and even makes for an effectively larger mana pool for high mana cost champions since such a large % is restored at once.

This would be downvoted to hell, supports get no love

As a fellow Sona main (mastery 7) i would agree that healers need a mana sustain option somewhere without needing to resort to buying Chalice and wasting an opportunity to buy something else (like mid game Redemption for clutch healing)

Mana regen is sortof one of the core 'support' statistics (compared to raw mana for mages), so I could certainly see many enchanters (amongst other supports) getting increased base mana regen as part of their base statistic buffs when they go through all that stuff. (Changes to which make faerie charm and similar even stronger since they're % increases of a bigger base then.)

I haven't dug into runes too much yet, but I suspect theres more viable options than it might first seem to keep yourself afloat mana wise, and besides they don't want anyone to feel 'forced' to take any particular runes, so if sona need more mana regen and/or mana to function, she'll probably get it directly.
