  • I have been diamond+ for multiple seasons (so im not someone who's noobish with no experience)

  • and yes i happened to play a lot of cho'gath (he's in my top 3 for rank the last few seasons)

These buffs he's about to receive will take away all of the risk factor in deciding if cho should ult minions or save it for a crucial moment in an upcoming fight. Your buffs are going to make him much tankier but also have his burst scaling off of his tankiness (which in a sense is kinda overloaded and is not a buff people enjoy playing against) Champions that deal extra damage based on how tanky they are is a frustrating mechanic.

I want to see cho'gath become a more viable champion almost more than anyone since i enjoy him so much but these are NOT the quality of life changes he's needs in his kit. Maybe a re-work to his "e" or his "passive" to making them more useful outside of lane is a better approach.

So yes, i personally believe this patch towards cho is a complete mistake, if you read this and consider it thank you.

I mean, he's always been annoying to play against yeah, I knew some scrub would eventually ask for nerfs for him. I didn't expect it to be before the buffs even came through however. So here goes:

-First of all, he's so unbearably weak right now, it'd take far more than this to break him. He'll maybe become viable, and you'll have to dodge more Qs on the toplane, big deal.

-Second of all, the decision making regarding his ult just became harder, why? Because they removed the reduced cooldown when he feasts on minions, so if you ult a minion you basically just said the enemy laner: "Hey bro, my ult is on cd for the next 80 seconds, feel free to all-in me, you'll win. You can also zone me off farm and sustain too." But if you don't ult a minion, you're losing out on valuable stack-time since it takes so long for the ult to come back. If you save your ult for champions all through the lanephase and go into midgame with no stacks, you'll get eaten alive from the lack of HP (Cho is balanced around the bonus HP on his kit you know?).

-Third of all, Cho has never, EVER built full tank like Sej or Voli do, and he won't do it either starting this patch, why? Because his base damages are MEH, but his scalings are outstanding, so if you wanna deal damage with that QW you need to build AP anyways, so if Cho wants to remain relevant, he will be making more use of that AP ratio than that HP ratio. The ult damage isn't going to change a lot really.

-Fourth of all, the only thing getting a buff here is his ult, you know, that melee skill on a champion with no gapcloser and whose only CC is widely telegraphed? Any ranged champion with a couple neurons will be able to dodge the Q and kite him to death like the buff wasn't even there anyways.

-Fifth of all, it's not even a real buff? It takes twice as long for him to stack now, and his stacks give less HP. So if he's not snowballing off champions, it's actually a heavy-handed nerf to his early and mid-game.

-Sixth of all, Cho is a burst champion, but Riot just did a nerf of burstiness in general in the game with the mastery changes. This will actually affect him significantly, since the hardest part for him has never been being hard to burst but managing to have actually relevant damage.

Cho is a difficult champ to pin down. None of his abilities are really that OP on their own, the problem is that they are all on the same champ. (With the exception of his passive, that shit is WAY too strong since it gives a lot of health AND mana).

If he lands his Q, he can easily 100-0 most champs in the game with the followup combo with basically zero counterplay. He really needs some kind of rework since the changes to items have made his most glaring weakness (mobility) much less of a concern.

...They're in the patch notes. They're coming out in the morning. It is way too late for you to be asking them to be pulled. Be quicker on the draw next time.

I agree, the buffs to the ult take away decision makeing and narrow his itimisation down to tanky stuff with lots of hp while potentially makeing him frustraiting to play against. What cho needs are not raw number buffs, but buffs to his usabillity. HIs kit is just way to easily countered by any kind of mobillity, his Q is heavily delayed, his W recently got changed so people can dodge out of the (slowish) animation, and his ult and E require melee range with no mibillity tools and only unreliable ranged cc on him. Especially the recent W changes hit him hard despite compensation buffs, especially paired with the rylais nerfs. Befor that, the reliable silence paired with rylais slow allowed to setup the Q which then allowed to get into melee range. Now W is no longer reliable, and the rylais slow is to weak to reliably set up the Q.

Imo his Ult should give a bit less hp(with higher base/lvl on cho to compensate) but instead offer a bit more utillity per stack, like increased MS, AA range, W aoe and stuff like that. Also, some changed to the passive wouldn't hurt. The current one is awfully to lane against, as he's just sitting in lane with nothing you can do about it due to waveclear and tons of sustain while beeing tanky enouhg to survive most all-ins, and sadly it falls off for cho later on, becomeing rather irrelevant outside off lane.

Cho'Gath is a walking damage sponge. Nothing's changed.

Are people really ranting their frustrations over volibear and sejuani?

Go watch Phreak's patch rundown. I think you are wrong. They are good buffs.

It's too late man, the early update servers like OCE already have 7.4.

It's too late, it is almost certain to see chogath getting teemo'ed later.

I don't think it will be a problem. There is so much armor penetration now, especially with last whisper buff, that ADCs will tear him apart. It doesn't matter how much health you stack, if you don't have the resists to match, you are paper. This doesn't apply to magic damage though.

I'm curious to see how these changes play out. Realistically he won't get over 10 stacks most games. You aren't considering how weak he is right now. 46% in top lane and even lower in jungle. He did take a hit for these changes even though he is incredibly weak now. Its not like they straight up buffed the ability without lowering health per stack. He is much more easily punished in lane if he is stupid enough to feed on a minion in sight of the opposing team.

Yes please. There is so much you could do with E, and his passive could at least have an effect similar to Swain's where you get a % back on champion kills and assists.

You're about 4 weeks too late to say anything about these buffs going through right now (they were on PBE for 2 patch cycles).

Well they lower his midgame power by 360 less HP(his best time), double stacking/ window of weakness time. So technically this is at best a power shift from mid to lategame, in a meta where lategames dont exist xD

And I also dislike the permanent stacking, he should lose at least 1 stack upon death! But dont worry, this "buff" might cause his winrate to further drop, looking at his extremely lowered midgame power and eh maybe we hit the 30% winrate mark xD
