I agree with you sona's poke is WAY too strong, disagree with you on leona. I think she's pretty easy to counter (ironically a great counter to leona is sona)

What does semifinals have anything to do with the balance of the game?

They are using an older patch.

The reason we don't see Sona and Leona, is because they snowball, and it's too risky for a tournament to bet on.

Ex : Blitscrank - seemingly really overpowered champ, why does no one play him? No safety net if you miss grabs.

Sona isn't played in tournaments because she was nerfed, and the base health made her unplayable.

Why use Leona, when you have a nami that does the same exact thing you need, except she has more CC?

Janna - Q is pretty much braums ult. Nami - Q is pretty much a malphite knock up, with strongest healing in the game Thresh - very strong CC, compared to leona, why bother.

The only thing leona and sona have is a bit of extra damage. But they are very risky champions.
