Aatrox can't fly over Rammus
Aatrox Q gets interrupted where it "collides" with rammus box. I forget if rammus is built like Godzilla, but most critics agree that aatrox should be able to escape using his hang-gliding technique. Thanks Riot

This game isn't made on a 3D plane
Anything jump related doesn't actually put you in the air, it does visually, but not physically
Aatrox has the worst dive jump in the game, has been that way since release. Aatrox does not count being at the targeted Q spot until the full animation is completed. Meaning... if you Q and aatrox is just about to land and the enemy does a CC/Grab/Slow/Taunt ect at the spot which Aatrox Q'ed from, the effect will land and interupt him.
Many other champions with Dives/Jumps don't have this problem (Tris, Kha, Jax, Zac, ect). Sadly Aatrox's Q has never been shown love.
is my favorite character, but believe me its a Love-Hate relationship. He is quite the mess... but I love him XD
Displacement effects (such as knockup from say, Rammus's Q) cancel Aatrox's Q.
