I know they're not even here yet and we might not even enjoy it, but c'mon, it's riot... completely changing the rune system will break the meta for months! Even when they changed masteries, nothing was stale for months! And now the whole runes. And what kind of runes at that, changing summs during game, improved vision mechanics, a crazy Ghost effect on your boots, etc! I really love all these changes and I'm totally looking forward to the preseason and the chaos that will ensue!

Ashe I hate change but I would stop playing if they didn't make these changes, I just like to bitch about things when they change because change scares me.

Urgot I love trying new things and enjoy a game that doesn't grow stale. I love the experimenting I can do when major changes happen in LOL.

Oh, it's already happening. People are flipping out every time they reveal a new rune, calling it the most broken OP thing ever conceived of, that will destroy the game entirely.

Yes then they fixed it. Also true, And then they fixed it Oh that was a thing for a bit but hey then they fixed it. Make changes to mix things up, If a problem shows up Fix said problem. Id rather have a few weeks of annoying meta then an eternity of a stagnate one.

I can't wait for the crazy champion changes. ADs are likely to take a beating. Mages may get some jesus in their life. We'll have the runes and jungle will probably see a change this season. Preseason is the time to fuck up everything.

I'm pretty scared about the base stat changes. APs might be getting scaling AP per level (or just a base AP of 15). A lot of champions are going to miss MS quints.

I'm waiting for the AP changes, because itemizing on any mage I play (no matter if they are old school mage or mobile assassin-ish) is the same for 2-3 items, not including boots. Maybe we'll get some new AP items? Here's to hoping Void Staff gets some variety.

It's really not, all these changes they've made? It's pretty much just going to make all that's good even better, and everything still subpar will get shafted into the dirt even harder.

Sure NORMALS will probably be infested with every bright eyed scientist trying to experiment, but Ranked? Good luck changing that stale mess.

One thing people fail to realize, and that Riot is testing with, is that if everything is broken, then nothing is broken, because everyone has access to be able to use it if they want to. Dota has this mindset (yes I play a little Dota every now and again). In Dota there is literally a hero with a 10 second stun. There is another one who's ult does 1000 true damage to a target no matter what, and you can upgrade it to do more damage, and apply that damage to everyone in a small radius. This stuff is not broken compared to some of the stuff I've seen. Maybe it is broken in League's meta, but if we give it time and our approval it will balance out seen enough.

You do understand why it works in Dota right?

The reason is the only modifying effects are in game items. Dota has a Vacuum principle wherein Heroes are balanced around all items in game and effects wherein League is much MUCH more variable in champion stats and effects due to the rune/mastery system and soon to be runes reforged. Where they are additional effects outside of the game with these that need to be taken into account and this tips balance out of proportion as these effects can have negative impacts by making a character strong but another useless. Unlike Dota where a change on an item will effect camps alone a change on a mastery/new runes can not be offset by champion changes as it may break the champion with another rune.

That is the reason why league has not gone the route that DOTA does.

Am I alone in wanting all mastery (rune?) trees to be like the utility one(s), and focus runes more into indirect effects? They are much more interesting and diverse than attack 3 times for more damage. I guess that also comes from 2 seasons of the one utility tree being half damage anyways.

The utility tree (Insight? Something that starts with an I...) has a ton of really cool runes! I'm really torn, because the defensive and offensive ones seem really strong, too...

I feel like a LOT of people will take the utility tree as their second tree, though.

I'm very hyped. Many I can see being huge meta shifts by themselves like the new Summoner's Spell one and the "Dept" in the shop one as well. I think next Preseason will be a huge rattle in the cage that is the meta, and that excites me.

I welcome the changes, and considering the Balance Team's AMA on Reddit regarding their desire to communicate better with players' questions&concerns regarding balancing/reasons behind changes, I have much hope for Season 8.

Well, I'm usually excited for preseason changes, but after colossus broke Vi during preseason and she started getting banned every game, and with the potential diver update, I'm more scared than excited for the upcoming season.

I don't want my favorite champion to be "updated" and be changed into an icon the entire community hates (like "updated" Malz, "updated" Zac, "updated" Rengar, or just plain old Yasuo) just because Riot put little to no thought behind the changes they'll give her.
