Greivous Wounds Stacking system

#The Problem as I see it many people complain about Grievous Wounds being unbalanced because of it applying a flat reduction to heal efficiency (historically 40-50%), and because there is little to no negotiation on how Grievous Wounds can be applied. Currently we have: summoner 14 applies instantly, on command item 3076 item 3075 applies every time you fight them item 3123 item 3033 applies immediately on auto attack item 3165 applies when they are already dying

  • Most of the champion abilities that used to have Grievous Wounds have had it removed.

Looking at it this way, we see 5 options which are 100% reliable, and one that is only helpful if you were at an advantage to begin with (not so helpful vs lifesteal). Two of these highly reliable options are considered niche picks and are rarely used.

#A Possible Solution Create a stacking system for Grievous Wounds. * each stack of grievous wounds would last for 3 seconds * each stack of grievous wounds would apply roughly 5% heal reduction * each option to apply grievous wounds to a target could apply a different number of stacks. * stacks are applied addatively, not multiplicatively. Thus two applications of a 5% heal reduction would be a 10% reduction. *there would be a maximum number of possible stacks. I suggest a maximum of 100% heal reduction, but others would advocate for less, and I respect that too. obviously the exact numbers are variable, but let me give a few possible Examples: summoner 14 applies one stack of Grievous Wounds per tick of damage. item 3076 applies once stack of Grievous Wounds each time attacked. item 3075 applies two stacks of Grievous Wounds each time attacked. item 3123 applies two stacks of Grievous Wounds per attack etc.

##This option makes Grievous Wounds MUCH easier to balance. ######Potentially, it could even become its own stat, like %heal and sheild power, lethality, or lifesteal. in this case, each point of grievous wounds would be only 1% heal reduction. this also allows for Grievous wounds to become a much more common item to add to items, rather than just a few niche picks that are either OP or useless.

item 3075 item 3076 shouldn't be per-AA stack, as that would warp stuff around not building attack speed, as it would hurt you more. So it would hurt assassins/divers more than adcs.

'in combat' ticks might work better. 1 per second or something.

This could work on the Thornmail and EC

but Morello's and Ignite, not really.

As broken as life steal is right now thanks to certain items, im against this idea. Grievous wounds is fine as is imo. Maybe could do with a buff honestly. But this is an outright nerf. Try to get more than 2 stacks of GW off on a draven using the new FOTM build. He will delete you before you get anywhere close.

I personally feel like Thornmails should be reduced to like a 20% healing reduction, since you literally do nothing to apply it. At least with everything else, you have to actively do something. Yeah, clicking someone isn't exactly rocket science, but it's way more than just standing near a fight and getting hit.

But other than that, yeah, I think that would help. That way buying EC doesn't instantly counter Soraka with 1 auto.
