I understand Dynamic Queue now

  • Note, this should not be read as "I LIKE Dynamic Queue", but I UNDERSTAND the point now

I recently got on a losing streak and it made me realize something. I now know WHY Riot implemented Dynamic Queue, and if you're a solo player, it's a GIANT "F*** You" to you.

For years people have been complaining about "elo hell" and how they can't climb because of "trolls & feeders & afks, etc" And THAT is what Dynamic Queue is here to fix. It would be a giant pain in the ass and take a lot of time, manhours and money to actually code some kind of useful system that could at least cut down on some of those things. What's MUCH easier (and lazier) is to instead just slap the ability to play with friends on ranked. Don't wanna get stuck with afks? Play with your friends (and if they afk, talk to your loser friends, that's obviously not Riot's fault). Trolls bothering you? Avoid em by playing with people you know (and hey, look again, you can stop complaining to Riot about the jerks they let run roughshod over their game). People are feeding? You guessed it, why're your friends such a-holes?

The game won't be toxic, because you'll yell at em offline and then go get a beer. So play with your friends and climb that ladder easily. Why? Because all the jerks are now a bunch of solos that can all get screwed over together. In my last 10 games I've had at least 3 afks. Generally speaking, if I "premade" with people, we win (note: I have not yet played a premade game with ANY of my friends because they've been playing longer and I am trying to catch up, I have ONLY played premades by re-teaming with people I was randomly teamed with who seemed pretty competent). If I don't, it's a TOTAL crapshoot.

And that's the point of Dynamic Queue, to "fix" the massive flaws with the League community/playerbase and improve "your" gaming experience by reducing the problem players through a means of self-filtering. By selecting who you play with, you filter off the problem people so Riot doesn't need to figure out a better way to address them.

why look to fix problems where there is none. League one of the most played games before DQ and probably reached it's peak. I willing to bet that number is going down now, but I doubt Rito will ever release numbers if it is.

I don't think that Riot doesn't want to try to code some way to fix things or is too lazy, I just think they CAN'T do something like that. The only way that a system that would prevent you from dealing with afks/ragers/feeders most of the time is if the system banned anyone who even THINKS about looking at you the wrong way. There's already the leaverbuster system and the reporting system which gets rid of the shitty repeat offenders, but there's a ton of people that aren't consistently toxic or feed or afk but do so once in a while and that's not fair to ban them for a one time deal in most cases.

Okay... how do you code to keep Trolls out of Ranked Games? Toxics that aren't currently banned?

I mean, what kind of system are you talking about that they should have done that would give more certainty to being rid of Trolls and Toxics than allowing the Players to pick 4 people to play with that they know aren't Trolls or Toxics?
