First off, I would like to preface this thread by saying that I am in no way a support main, or good at this game beyond a normal "play for casual fun" kind of way. I play ranked only when I feel like it. Yesterday I played a single match of League of Legends. I'm Bronze V, so I have little expectations of my team. The game started pretty good. I was playing Nautilus Sup with Lucian and we were getting harassed pretty hard by Twitch/Karma, but we were never killed in lane by them. I made a few engages when I could and we were able to force them to back twice. While this was going on, our Tryndamere was camped by the enemy Lee Sin, Katarina got four kills in lane, and our Jungle Poppy got invaded several times. Their Lee got ahead, but never really came bot because an unfortunate engage left both me and Lucian pretty low. We backed and the combination of an already low tower and Twitch's damage won them first tower blood. The rest of the game went in a terrible back and forth between winning and losing until finally, after fifty minutes, we won.
The enemy team took Baron three times, once as a steal from us. We had many opportunities to close the game out, and so did they. Me, being a Nautilus who was under performing, didn't have the resources or the power to encourage finishing out the game. My engagements almost always ended in my death, so I wizened up and only engaged if the enemy engaged first. I had some really satisfying ults and exhausts, allowing us to win team fights, but then everyone would back, push lanes (though not quite far enough) and the cycle would start over.
The TL;DR here is please learn to close games and not chase and focus on kills too much. Objectives are far more important.
