Don't Give Up!
So today I was playing a match of Sejuani, a champ I've been playing a lot of recently, and at about 18 minutes we were in pretty bad. Fizz wasn't doing so hot midlane, Jhin wasn't really taking off bot lane, even with a Blitz for support, and I just didn't feel like I could make things happen in the jungle. I was only responding to what Pantheon did, not making my own ganks.
For all intents and purposes, the game started out decently matched. Top lane was Garen vs. Camielle. Bot lane was Jhin/Blitzcrank vs. Vayne/Lulu. Mid was Fizz vs. Talon. and jungle was Sejuani (me) vs. Pantheon. I knew I would scale better than Pantheon, and Fizz, as long as he didn't screw up, would do fairly well against Talon. Garen I was a bit worried about, but it turned out he played safe and managed to hold his own.
But as the game reached 18 minutes, we were behind. Blitz's early first blood on the Vayne was heartening, but about three seconds after, Talon murdered the Fizz under tower and got away free, since I was trying to gank top unsuccessfully. Pantheon near relentlessly bounced between mid and bot for five minutes after first blood, destroying Fizz more than once.
By 18 minutes (and this 18 minutes is important) my team was pretty ready to give up. We were one kill behind, and a dragon and a tower behind. I felt bad. I couldn't prevent either of those losses. At about 21 minutes, we took a hard hit. A team fight went badly and we lost three teammates, and then another bad team fight where we lost two and a tower. Through the whole thing I tried to keep an open mind, but it felt bad. At 22 minutes there was a surrender called. Three teammates said yes before I could even look at the surrender bar. But I said no. Another teammate said no so we continued. Directly after, we won a whole ace while taking a tower. The game swung back a few more times but I finally started to take initiative and shotcall, telling them that we should end instead of taking a baron, AND IT WORKED!!!
tl;dr: Don't ever give up on a game you think you've "lost" just because you're a few kills and objectives behind. Comebacks happen, especially with smart play, good catches, and good strategy.
