Kass Needs Help

If you've got a low pick-rate (1.43%, which is 35% as high as average mids), you might just be a niche champion, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you've got a low win-rate (44.03%, which is ranked 180 out of the 186 champ+roles that Champ.gg tracks), maybe you're just new and popular, so people are having trouble adjusting to playing you, and there's nothing wrong with that. That said, when you have a terrible pick-rate and a terrible win-rate, you need help.

What kind of help? Well, his identity as an anti-mage is both clear and cool, but at the same time, it needs to be possible to lane against him as a mage without automatically suffering and being crushed for the whole game, so things like increasing his passive magic resistance or the shield on his Q are probably unwise. Since he's also got an identity as a moblie assassin who can't easily 100-0 a squishy, increasing his burst would probably be unhealthy power. I can think of a few things:

  • Put an execute on his Nether Blade active (to make him better at finishing low HP targets)
  • Increase his defensive base stats (to ease his laning phase and free him to build damage while surviving melee range)
  • Increase the ratio on his ult, either with a larger mana-scaling ratio or adding an AP ratio, though I'd prefer the former (to increase late-game damage)
  • Give him a small, mana-scaling shield on each Riftwalk that ramps up with Riftwalk stacks (to encourage his extended-engage skirmishing style)

Part of me wants to give him some true damage so he can deal some amount of damage to tanks, but part of me is afraid that will be unhealthy power. I think it's worth a shot, though. Building HP works against him now, and it would continue to work.

They could balance him pretty well if they'd stop giving him half assed treatments.

His base dmg is pathetically low there is no excuse for a full ap mage to have barely 400 base dmg in his abilities. That's nonsense. Either buff his ratios high enough so it wortsh picking him for lategame or just buff his early game base dmg.

riot needs to fucking ditch that retarded mana scale on his ult and like you said Put an execute on his Nether Blade active (to make him better at finishing low HP targets)

The whole AP item change should help him out a bit, too. With the extra AP on two of his core items (RoA and Seraph's) his power spike once he hits both should be that much more deadly. I know it's rare to see a Kassadin build both these days but still, even if he only builds one (usually RoA I'd think) it's a buff to Kass's mid-game power spike. I wouldn't be surprised to see him become more popular in professional play. Plus, with champs like Vlad and Rumble getting their core items buffed as well, the chances of facing a double AP comp are that much more likely, which makes Kass' passive that much more efficient. An execute on his w active would be pretty cool, though. Or maybe it could do more damage based on his max mana, since they seem to want him to build a bunch of mana anyway. Nothing crazy, of course.

every time kass gets help, hes instantly first pick or top priority ban.

every time they try to rebalance him when that happens, he instantly drops to shit tier.

this has been going on with the champion for 5 years. bottom line is, you cant balance a champion with that ult. they either get rid of it and give him something new, or he remains where he is.
