Why does Azir W trigger minion aggro? Where's the consistency Riot?

Since Riot has stated that Azir's W ( Arise!) counts as a spell and not an autoattack, and since spells do not trigger minion aggro, then why does Azir's W trigger minion aggro? Riot where is the consistency? Either have it count as an autoattack and proc stuff like Fervor of Battle ( which you changed in 6.5/6.6 because you said Azir's W counts as a spell), or have it count as a spell and not proc minion aggro like other spells.

Btw heres the evidence for me saying Riot has stated that "Arise!" should count as a spell from patch notes 6.6 >>>>>>> Screenshot : https://gyazo.com/a0ae3d699f14faa1b60da89339483c22 Text : " While Azir's soldiers _look _ like they're basic attacking, they're not applying on-hit effects. Sand Soldier attacks are treated as spells, and as such, apply spell effects like Liandry's Torment or Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

Thanks :D

Edit : I think most people reading this post have been mistaken, this post is NOT about how balanced or oppressive Azir is, or whatever story you have about how you got zoned by an Azir during lane phase. This is about CONSISTENCY, and game mechanics working as they should relatable to others.

Because it would be the most obnoxious thing in the game if that would be the case. Even if there is no consistency its completly understandable why they want a spell who has such a gigantic range to at least aggro minions.

I think it's the fact that he ordered an auto attack that draws minion aggro.

I dont play Azir nor do I like Azir players. But youre right, they have to do one or the other. They cant have it be like a spell but proc minion aggro but doesnt prco on hit effects. I dont care what Riot say or what other people say. Consistency is needed in a game or the game is inherently flawed. So even if I dont like Azir nor their players, I rather play a consistence game which follows its OWN rules.

But after saying that, they better nerf him again if it doesnt proc minion aggro anymore. Like reduce his healing regeneraton or his armor per level or his base movement speed or his soldiers damage

Because his laning is already EXTREMELY safe and often oppressive at the same time. He deserves unique handicaps like extra minion aggro. If you're taking damage from it, you're not playing well.

Lets not make Azir a zoning god during the laning phase again.

Thanks.

So on the flip side, he just shouldn't draw any aggro for auto attacking in front of minions?

Even if it's a spell, it's still his auto attack. He shouldn't get a pass for it.

Same reason why Aursol's stars reveal him in a bush. Gameplay health > consistency

rito, you're always bitchin about consistency, now bring it out!

Sire Hippington3/28/2016, 2:14:44 PM2 votes

He still issues an auto-attack order, which for me is enough to warant minion agro even in terms of consistency. His W are basically AAs, the in-consistent thing about them is that they use on-spell rather than on-hit, and since that's Azirs 'thing', i have no issues with consistency here, just how kogmaw breaking the AS cap isn't a big issue.

Consistency is not inherently a virtue.

Why this has never crossed my mind, I will never know...

Rito plz

Consistency is a nice thing to have, but does not take precedent over more important thing.

By your logic, for the sake of consistency, you would rewrite a 1001 -paged essay as you decided to add a paragraph? Or would you make an asterisk and later write an appendix?

People make exception all the time. If that's what you're asking.

Maybe they couldn't get it to work with all the bugs Azir has. [zombie-brand-mindblown]

TyroneWatermelon3/28/2016, 5:13:51 AM1 votes

No,Spells do draw minion aggro, any spell that deals damage. Also do you want the minions to forget about Azir just like Riot did?

Only Play Darius3/28/2016, 7:53:34 AM1 votes

So you want to make laning against him as melee even more unfair than it already is?

Lady Hammerlock3/28/2016, 9:41:11 AM1 votes

This is the reason Arise does count as a spell but it isn't them causing the minion aggro ITS AZIR,for a soldier to attack azir must send an attack command which in turn drags minion aggro

Captain Aishi3/28/2016, 11:39:05 AM1 votes

because that's how the spell is designed, upon release they mentioned that it would draw minion aggro because it 'behaves' as an autoattack even though it doesnt 'act' like one (the spell does damage by issuing attack orders and scales with your attack speed, but it doesn't apply on-hit effects, it can deal damage to wards etc.)

Divewing3/28/2016, 12:50:02 PM1 votes

It's something that confuses me a lot. GP/Ez Qs would suggest that minion aggro is an on hit effect. Azir disproves this. Azir would suggest it's on auto attacks, yet not an on hit Ezreal and GP disprove THAT.

It hurts my head @_@
